Job Description
Workday is helping the world’s largest organizations transform their businesses, empower their people, and prepare for what’s next. The Customer Base Value Management team is tasked with serving as an internal coach to our sales executives and leaders and a trusted advisor to our customers, helping them develop their enterprise technology strategy and articulate and optimize the value of Workday. We have the privilege of advising leaders from the C-Suite of the world’s largest corporations to the all-knowing Finance Analyst behind the scenes at small organizations. We are industry experts, workmates, teammates, and coaches. We are Value Managers.
Workday is looking for a Value Manager with a background in Finance, Consulting, and/or Enterprise Software to join our team. A successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of the business impact that enterprise cloud applications can deliver to organizations, a consultative and collaborative approach to customer engagement, a passion for innovation, and a desire to play a key role in executing value management strategy across one of Workday’s fastest growing business groups.
As a Value Manager, you will:

  • Develop relationships as a consultant and business advisor to a team of Workday Account Executives – working alongside them and the industry’s premier pre-sales teams to engage, excite, and enable Workday Customers throughout their enterprise transformation.

  • Command a strong knowledge of Workday’s technology and enterprise solutions to deliver compelling and relevant messages around Workday’s unique and differentiated value.

  • Drive engaging discovery interviews with Finance, IT, and HR stakeholders to uncover pain points and to understand business processes within their organizations.

  • Develop and deliver compelling, highly narrative and engaging business case materials and presentations to senior, including C-level, board-level and business audiences.

  • Conduct consultative quantitative analysis, ROI modeling, and capability benchmarking

  • Help drive the strategic vision for the Customer Base Value Management team by creating and sharing new best practices, innovation frameworks, and thought leadership.

Other requirements:

  • Experience level: mid-career with relevant work experience, ideally in consulting, finance, business services, corporate strategy, project management, pre-sales, value engineering, sales, or other applicable roles.

  • Domain experience in finance, corporate planning, or enterprise software is highly desired.

  • Strong consulting skill-set including excellent discovery, quantitative modeling, listening, collaboration, communication, and executive presence.

  • Deeply curious about a variety of business models, highly motivated to have an impact on customers, and broadly interested in leveraging technology to solve business problems.

  • Industry experience across tech & media, retail, hospitality, manufacturing, or energy is highly desired.

  • Understanding of software deal dynamics and ability to think strategically about driving software opportunities forward is encouraged.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, MS or MPA encouraged.

  • Willingness to travel to customer sites (although not currently); typically, “day trips;” you control personal travel schedule

  • Passion to work in a team environment and share best practices regularly

About the Team
The Customer Base Value Management (CBVM) team is responsible for managing Workday’s growing value proposition and providing value consulting services for Workday’s existing Customers. As Workday continues to innovate, this team plays a key role in ensuring Customers understand, adopt, and realize value from new solutions and products. Value Managers are thought leaders within the broader Workday organization, driving creative solutions to some of the most complex problems while enabling our sellers and extended Workmates on value selling methodologies.
