About The Team

  • Reporting to Director Product Strategy , the Senior Industry Product Strategist drives high-level strategy and both near & long-term product roadmap and partner solutions roadmap for the Technology & Professional Services industries. This role is an industry subject matter expert with a deep understanding of the needs and business priorities of these industries and supports both the go-to-market teams and product development. This role works across a wide variety of cross-functional stakeholders, teams, and product areas and is the accountable owner to drive the strategy.

  • Given the dynamic nature of the Workday business and the breadth of our product portfolio,, the Senior Product Strategist must always be looking forward, anticipating different alternatives and options to determine and articulate our strategy.

In this role, you will

  • Bring together disparate teams to focus and create a cohesive strategy and associated narrative across various offerings and products targeting the Technology & Services industry space.

  • Provide data driven insights to leadership on the product market fit and industry across short-term (one to three year) and long-term (three to five year) time horizons.

  • Translate key market / industry / technology trends, competitive intelligence and prospect / customer feedback into actionable and innovative product capabilities.

  • Create an industry product vision based on the market opportunity, target customers, product positioning, competitive analysis and go-to-market plan. Ensures alignment with Corporate Strategy to enable a unified vision.

  • Partner closely with Product, Sales, Marketing and Services to define how we commercialize, launch and deliver new products and functionality.

  • Gain strong understanding of External market, competitive landscape and how Workday’s customers position and prefer Workday’s product offerings in this space

  • Define and maintain the long-term (three to five year) product strategy and investment priorities that inform the roadmap and ensure clarity of vision.

  • Prioritize build / partner / buy strategies in partnership with Corporate Strategy, Corporate Development and Workday Ventures.

  • Create the three year roadmap and plan across a variety of teams, tools, and organizations

  • Work with strategic customers to define the participation, direction and focus for the customer / industry advisory councils.

  • Provide thought leadership and vision for the Tech & Services Industry and can communicate the vision and roadmap for Sales, Marketing and key Workday Customer Center visits.

  • Communicate with industry analysts to articulate our strategy and optimize our positioning relative to the competition.

  • Act as approved spokesperson for the PR / AR activities, keynotes, blogs, and podcasts.

  • About You

    • Possess deep domain knowledge of enterprise HR, Financial and/or Professional Services solutions; at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies and implications.

    • Skilled at creating, gaining consensus on, and communicating enterprise software product strategies.

    • Understand the value proposition across the Workday product portfolio and can leverage existing assets to create strategic solutions that drive customer value.

    • Partner well with internal and external stakeholders to create and deploy product, marketing, sales and delivery strategies.

    • Learn quickly on a fast-paced team including highly technical areas

    • Work collaboratively with colleagues across disciplines

    • Have excellent oral and written communication skills, including comfort with communication with senior executives and customer presentations

    • Team-player attitude with eagerness to dig into the details

    • Ability to think about problems from different perspectives and leverage data driven analysis to drive opportunity analysis, roadmap development, and prioritization.

    • Thrive in a fast moving, quickly changing atmosphere.

    • Strategy consultant experience at one of the big consulting firms a plus

    • Bachelor or Master’s degree in technical, business, or related field; MBA a plus
