Job Description
With over $4B in revenue, Workday continues to grow at 19% YoY, driven by a high-performance sales team. The Global Sales Reporting & Analytics team is a key partner in fueling this growth, by creating dashboards and reporting tools that enable the global sales organization to track progress toward sales goals and uncover opportunities to accelerate sales performance. These tools are used by Sales leaders, Account Executives, Sales Operations, and Executives throughout the business and surface key insights related to territory planning, demand generation, forecasting, pipeline health, sales team performance, and more.
The Sr Business Intelligence Engineer plays a vital role on the team by serving as a technical thought leader: acting as Product Owner to curate a rock-solid foundation of data models and pre-calculated metrics with Data Engineering, building published data sources, documenting metrics, and leading best practices and governance within the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Models: Serve as Product Owner for a portfolio of data warehouse business views needed to support Business Intelligence and Analytics use cases. Deliver stories/requirements to Business Technology Data Engineering and QA and approve for production. Serve as Developer and Owner of published data sources.

  • Data Analysis: Perform data analysis and gap analysis to ensure current or new business views can support Business Intelligence and Analytics use cases.

  • Data Inputs: Own and maintain non-systems data inputs, such as Excel files and Google Sheets. Optimize and automate Data Prep activities through Alteryx or SQL.

  • Metric Governance: Create, maintain, and update documentation on certified metric definitions.

  • Security: Serve as Product Owner for automated dashboard access and security model, ensuring Sales and cross-departmental users have consistent security applied across Sales dashboards.

  • Enablement: Train and enable Analysts on business views, metrics, access, and security. Provide information and guidance to BI Analysts regarding data models and metrics for their use cases.

  • Optimization: Optimize data sources and consult with BI Analytics on dashboard optimization following best practices.

  • Troubleshoot: Be an expert in troubleshooting and resolving dashboard, data, and security issues reported by business users and fellow team members.

  • Tools & Systems: Analyze systems changes and tools updates/upgrades that impact Sales data and dashboards. Manage testing and ensure changes are seamlessly absorbed without disruption.

  • Dashboards: Occasionally contribute to building and enhancing dashboards when extra help is needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field of study.

  • 8+ years professional experience as a Business Intelligence Engineer, Data Engineer, Business Intelligence Analyst or related roles.

  • Extensive experience in SQL, data modeling, and data preparation required. Experience with Alteryx or related ETL tool required.

  • Overall knowledge of MDM and Data Governance processes preferred.

  • Experience with Tableau, Prism, Salesforce, Gainsight, Marketto preferred.

  • Experience working with Sales Operations and/or Sales Analytics preferred.

  • Experience with Agile methodology preferred.

  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
