About the Opportunity
WeWork is currently seeking an Energy Manager for the Americas region (North and South America) who will directly report to the Director of Energy & Sustainability, Americas. The Energy & Sustainability team is part of the Operations Team. The Energy Manager will work cross functionally and proactively to establish and maintain clear and industry-leading standards and operations for the responsible purchase, use and tracking of energy
.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Identify opportunities to reduce the environmental footprint and the cost of WW’s energy supply portfolio, working across departments to take advantage of those opportunities

  • Manage and conduct energy audits, both physically and remotely using existing BMS systems, that align with business culture and policies and results in education and learning outcomes

  • Lead standardization and optimization of new and existing BMS and sub-metering infrastructure

  • Support the detailed tracking of energy consumption and cost data for each building

  • Where required, support bill validation, highlighting any anomalies or risks

  • Analyze energy consumption data to gain insights to inform energy efficiency & procurement initiatives

  • Support a regular reporting cadence identifying performance anomalies and the reasoning for any over or under consumption/spend

  • Support the Product Team during the design and fit-out process for new buildings relating to energy spend budgeting, consumption, BMS and metering strategy

  • Stay informed of local/regional regulatory and technical developments in the energy industry

  • Train and educate teams on relevant energy-related concepts and practices

  • Co-create policies that are aligned with business best practice, energy management & environmental legislation, as well as targeted at the end user and fit for purpose within the community. Ensure regular review of policies, ensuring changes in local regulation/practice are considered

  • Participate in creating a culture and ethos where sustainability is a habitual way of working integrated across the company rather than a box checking exercise employees feel they have to complete

About You
Preferred Qualifications / Skills

  • Have a proven track record in Energy and BMS Management with supporting qualifications or Bachelor’s degree in related field; Master’s Degree preferred, ideally in Energy/Environmental Management, Mechanical Engineering, Building Science or a similarly engineering-related field

  • Hold or be in the process of gaining an industry (energy management) recognized qualification

  • 5+ years experience in a similar role

  • Have a proven track record of managing utilities across a multi- building portfolio with a budget of >$5M

  • Experience with energy efficiency programs for commercial buildings, especially commissioning/retro-commissioning and M&V programs

  • In-depth knowledge of energy markets, policies, voluntary corporate programs, and regulations

  • Strong energy data analysis skills and experience, including a mastery of Microsoft Excel, familiarity with PowerBI, Tableau and/or SQL

  • Have experience in brown and green energy procurement and dealing with energy brokers

  • Ability to influence and to work cross-functionally in support of sustainability team objectives and goals

  • Experience successfully interacting with professionals working in manual trades, custodial services and other hands-on jobs

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and outstanding relationship building skills at all levels inside and outside the organization
