Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the communications strategy for Visa University’s internal programs and initiatives to provide a consistently engaging cadence of touchpoints that promote action and draw customers to our learning experiences:
  • You will create and implement comprehensive, innovative, and effective marketing and communication plans and processes for key global Visa University initiatives by working with VU leadership to understand overall objectives and goals across six colleges within VU
  • You understand regional learning leaders’ priorities and build a communications process to support those priorities, including the development of shared asset library
  • You will support multiple stakeholders, balancing competing requirements, to effectively negotiate global and regional communications priorities for Visa University
  • Balance forward-thinking, high-quality user experiences with operational efficiency, creating and implementing repeatable communications processes, and appropriately delegating tasks and projects
  • You will lead the marketing and communications teams accountable for work occurring within the project team
  • Be a change agent, supporting and championing the growth of learning culture at Visa
  • Serve as a primary communications liaison between college deans, VU leadership, and communications team to balance workload and priorities.

Act as a Strategic Business Partner to Visa University leadership:
  • Complement Visa University goals and priorities with a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy, including consideration of global communication needs, as well as regional communications needs
  • Partner with and support regional delivery teams to improve learning engagement through communications, campaigns, or other meaningful media that represent both the style and cadence of Visa University and the local needs, symbiotically
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, strengthening the credibility of the communications team for a win-win outcome; work in concert with product and delivery leads to understanding key business drivers while creating engaging experiences that elevate business value
  • Reporting responsibilities of efforts and successes

Innovate and Grow the Visa University marketing and communications portfolio:
  • Evaluate and evolve existing marketing and communication tools, VU-branded templates, and assets, enabling colleagues to work autonomously when deemed appropriate while maintaining brand and style guide standards across communications efforts
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate new methods of communication to ensure VU’s ability to meet learners where they are for seamless user experience and engagement, articulating these evolving strategies to leadership to ensure buy-in, support, and customer engagement
  • Track business metrics of communication activities and their impact on program awareness and uptake
  • Be flexible and adaptable to the changing business priorities

Build and strengthen internal and external relationships to:
  • Position Visa University’s communication team as best-in-class, proven experts in their field to reinforce the team’s abilities and recommendations across projects
  • Ensure a common understanding of the marketing and communications experience and scale it effectively across the organization
  • Influence local marketing and communication processes to ensure brand consistency
  • Improve learning engagement in our products through communications, campaigns, or other meaningful media that represent both the style and cadence of Visa University and the local needs symbiotically
  • Realize win-win outcomes; working in concert with product and delivery leads to understanding key business drivers while creating engaging experiences that elevate business value

About You:
  • You are comfortable directing global marketing and communications efforts in a way that is distinguished, befitting of the Visa University brand
  • Your messaging is simple and clear. You can adapt writing and communication style to the voice requirements of different audiences, from employees to executives, to the boardroom to clients
  • You excel at leading distributed teams with varied skill sets in a harmonious blend. You are confident in leading a team of communications, user research, graphic design, and copy-editing experts while creating one voice for Visa University across communications channels
  • You have strong stakeholder management experience and can interface with various levels of leadership, earning trust – and delivering on that trust
  • You are adept at conveying the Visa University value proposition by developing and delivering engaging and persuasive marketing content through a variety of channels, including but not limited to: email, web pages, courses, research reports, sales materials, newsletters, video scripts, case studies, blogs, other social media content, and executive presentations
  • You are resilient and flexible. Defining, prioritizing, planning, and executing communications strategies amidst changing needs is seen as a new opportunity and not a setback. Doing this while ensuring timely releases and best-in-class engagement is how you operate
  • You have a global mindset. You are curious and broad in your desire to understand our customers. Driving learner awareness and excitement through in-depth knowledge and experience of our customers in their needs and local landscape is a must

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree English, Journalism, Public Relations or related communications field or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA) ) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
  • 7+ years of experience as a leader in communications, training management, or equivalent. Financial services, payments experience preferred
  • Experience providing communication counsel to executives/senior leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and influencing skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • Extensive experience leading marketing and communications efforts for internal and external learning services
  • Experience in using multiple modalities – familiarity with amplifying messages on social media, using podcasts, videos, etc.
  • Outstanding program/project management experience in marketing and strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Self-starter with a proven track record in leading, setting, and successfully executing training and/or communications strategy and initiatives
  • “Hands-on” team player, collaborative, diplomatic, flexible, and able to work effectively in a matrixed organization including executive-level stakeholders
  • Ability to work creatively, apply strong problem-solving skills, and an ability to manage multiple priorities and demands
  • Strong computer and technical skills: Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and HTML editor tools. Knowledge of CRM, marketing automation tools, and social media applications a plus
  • Ability to make timely decisions based on available data with a consideration of short and long-term strategic goals
  • Curious and passionate about people, culture, and the employee experience

Additional Information

Location/ Return to Office

We anticipate to have this person based in Foster City offices, 2-3 days a week starting in the Fall 2021.
Physical Requirements:

The incumbent may be required to travel, up to 10%
