About the Role
The Manager - IT Financial Risk Management will be focused on coordinating and building a world class IT risk management program for Uber's payments business in response to existing and emerging payments risks and products. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work cross-functionally with Uber's global payments teams to develop an integrated payments risk and controls program.
The role will be interacting closely with Uber's Engineering, and Product payment teams to rationalize and automate Uber's financial controls environment for payments. The successful applicant will have the ability to problem solve within a constantly changing technology environment, demonstrate their ability to understand and document critical payment systems processes and controls and present internal control recommendations related to payments.
What You'll Do
  • Build and maintain cross-functional relationships across Engineering, Product, Operations teams and audit partners to drive effective financial risk management
  • Understand and document collections, disbursements and money movement process flows and risks through early detection and adopt preventative measures.
  • Improve efficiency of the payments control environment through implementation of automation and process improvement
  • Bridge gaps between IT and business controls, including ITGCs and automated business controls
  • Lead the discovery of emerging payment processes from new product launches and understand risk profiles to ensure an appropriate control environment is established
  • Advising on the following activities; narrative and flowchart development, risk assessments, control rationalization, management controls testing
  • Implement new processes and controls in response to changes to the business environment, such as; new product introduction, internal process changes or reorganization
Basic Qualifications
  • 6+ years of IT controls or risk management experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of emerging technology risk and Agile/ DevOps environments within a microservices ecosystem
  • Experience with SQL and interpreting programming languages
  • Ability to break down complexity - deeply understand the problem, simplify, and be able to explain the "why" to various audiences including influencing senior leadership
  • Consulting and/or internet/ technology industry experience
  • Ability to deeply analyze complex systems to identify potential financial, operational, systems and compliance risks related to payments.
  • Advanced relationship building to gain trust through action, becoming a knowledge leader in Uber's payments products, and identifying opportunities to deliver value to senior partners
  • Ability to thrive in environments of uncertainty, bring critical thinking and a data driven approach to navigate our ambiguous and changing environment
  • Experience with SOX readiness assessments and control implementation
  • CISSP/CISM/CISA
  • Working technical knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, SOX requirements, including PCAOB Auditing Standard No. 5
  • Experience managing, monitoring and remediating deficient financial controls
  • Process management experience, including process redesign and optimization
  • Experience with information technology general controls and automated business process controls and concepts
  • Knowledge of the payments industry, key players, emerging payments technology and the evolving regulatory landscape
  • Demonstrated project management experience
