About the Role
Uber is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our US & Canada Rides Operations team. If you love leading a team, setting a vision, collaborating with cross-functional partners, delivering meaningful results, and solving problems from both 30,000 feet as well as deep in the details, this is the role for you!
The Head of the US&C Rides Compliance Strategy & Operations team is a key member of the Operations leadership team. In this role, you'll manage the team that is responsible for setting and executing the compliance strategy that enables Uber's Rides business across the United States and Canada. The team is accountable for keeping our Rides business compliant with regulatory and internal safety requirements and is responsible for eliminating systematic risk and driving process optimization and centralization. Some themes that the team handles include: regulatory reporting and payments, centralized process management, regulatory audits, proactive risk management, configuring compliance systems, and monitoring business and compliance metrics.
This role requires strong collaboration across different functional and specialized teams, as you'll work closely with Product, Legal, Safety, Insurance, etc.

What You'll Do
  • Work with cross-functional business leaders to develop and refine specific compliance strategies, objectives, and key results
  • Directly manage a team of individual contributors, focusing on individual performance, team effectiveness, and career development
  • Identify operational weaknesses and help improve existing or develop new compliance processes to keep us as efficient as possible. Standardizing and centralize processes and work with Product/Engineering and third-party BPO teams to systematize our needs
  • Collaborate with other functional leaders (Legal, Policy, Safety, Insurance, etc.) to ensure alignment in solving our toughest compliance problems.
  • Set a high bar for the team to think boldly and creatively and then funnel that energy into concrete processes and execution plans - be biased toward action.
  • Find opportunities to improve customer experience through compliance, given that many compliance processes directly impact drivers and riders
  • Monitor level of compliance and take action if things go wrong, including root cause analysis, and rapid implementation of mitigating solutions
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • At least 6 years of operations experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience directly managing people and leading a team
  • Experience driving business outcomes, ideally in a matrix structure
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals
  • Process design and improvement experience, preferably in both automated and manual processes and/or customer-facing processes
  • Understand the inherent relationship between regulatory compliance, safety, and business growth
  • Clear and concise communicator with the ability to synthesize a lot of information quickly, highlight the meaningful points, and disseminate actionable insights.
  • Ability to operate with a lean team and willingness to roll up sleeves
