Twitter is searching for a Strategy + Operations leader to partner with the Head of Infrastructure and Reliability to drive operational excellence.
Twitter is looking for a Director of Strategy and Operations to be the Chief of Staff and partner to the head of Platform Infrastructure and Reliability group, part of Twitter Engineering. You will be responsible for the processes that help build and evolve Twitter’s technical strategy in that space, and drive implementation across Twitter engineering.
You will identify areas of improvement in processes, tooling, technologies, and practices that will drive greater accountability in execution. This role will empower you to directly impact and improve decisions and processes for areas that are in the Platform Infra and Reliability’s remit (and influence beyond that). You will work with cross-functional teams to drive strategy while focusing on speed, consistency, and scalability of technical execution throughout the company.
What You’ll Do
Be the eyes and ears for the SRE head - advising them, standing in for them during meetings, presenting their point of views, briefing them, and bringing them in at the right time and right altitude.
Be the strategic driver for Twitter’s Infra and SRE org, evaluating and building upon everything from tooling adoption, roadmap planning, setting strong operating principles, and identifying and advocating for operational efficiencies across a scaling business.
Work proactively to identify and solve problems that empower technical teams to collaborate well, with a focus on shipping quickly and delivering results with transparency and accountability.
Oversee large, often cross-functional organization-wide initiatives in alignment with Platform Strategy and Operations (S&O) and collaborating with other cross-pillar S&O folks.
Bring together multiple cross-functional stakeholders to drive decisions and alignment on strategic technical topics.
Be a key bridge from the SRE org to Platform Engineering and to the rest of the organization, conveying, and ensuring successful communication and implementation of critical organizational and operational decisions.
Who You Are
10+ years in the technology industry, either in a startup or mid-to-large scale company, preferably with 5+ years in Engineering or Technical Product Management roles.
Executive level communication skills, with an emphasis on written skills.
Strong analytical and strategic conceptual thinker.
Proven team builder, particularly one who mentors and manages well while attentively creating a culture of inclusivity.
Deep focus on execution and results – tracking performance, setting goals and developing plans, following through and holding people accountable for results.
Strong business acumen – understands the business at a holistic level and how each team / initiative impacts the whole.
Excellent change management capabilities - able to anticipate the needs of a growing, scaling organization, develop a strategy, and bring other teams along on the journey.
Drive communication standards and methods, including messaging related to programs and initiatives.
Excellent cross-team collaboration, with proven ability to work across organizations and reporting boundaries to get the job done.
Preferred SRE Domain experience with strong understanding and familiarity with operating distribution systems at scale, capacity and performance.
