Because you belong at Twilio
The Who, What, Why and Where
We're looking for a developer who has a passion for building and crafting delightful experiences for other builders, who shows empathy for the needs of others, who knows how to prioritize features and who can tell stories to get others passionate about the things they build!
Twilio is looking for an advocate with a consistent track record of empowering others. They also have:
You are a developer who has experience in writing, testing and shipping production-level code. Whether it's code that runs in your own production system or those of others.
You are comfortable working independently. While you know when to rely on your colleagues, you do feel comfortable taking a project and driving it from start to finish.
You are a communicator. Whether you worked previously in developer relations, customer support, sales engineering or have experience maintaining open-source projects, you know how to connect with customers just as well as with internal partners both verbally and through written documentation.
Bonus if you have experience building tools for other developers (internal or external) whether it's CLIs, plugins, libraries, integrations or APIs.
As a Developer Advocate your role is to help ensure that everyone who builds with Twilio can be successful and that their needs are represented inside Twilio. In this role you'll focus on developers and builders who use Twilio together with other platforms.
As part of this role you will:
DRAW THE OWL: Write open-source code that helps developers integrate Twilio into other platforms. As part of this you'll author Twilio CLI plugins (based on oclif plugins), Twilio Functions and contribute to existing open source projects under the Twilio Labs umbrella.
BE AN OWNER: Design and own the features and experiences for the integrations you build. As part of this work you'll have to identify which features to build and ruthlessly prioritize. You'll work with other teams inside Twilio to create the best experience for developers using the extensions you build.
WRITE IT DOWN: Document and promote the tools you build by partnering with different parts of the Developer Network and other parts of the Marketing organization to surface the things you build to the community.
EMPOWER OTHERS: Build connections with product teams inside and outside of Twilio. Not every integration is written by Twilio directly but it's important that customers have a phenomenal experience regardless of who wrote the code. As part of this role you'll establish relationships with both Twilio's product teams and the platforms who build Twilio integrations.
WEAT THE CUSTOMER'S SHOES: Represent the perspective of builders who use Twilio together with other systems. Your primary goal is to advocate on their behalf to create the best experiences for these builders.
Twilio's mission is to fuel the future of communications. Our Developer Advocacy's team is to be the voice of developers and builders who use Twilio and ensure that Twilio creates experiences that blend seamlessly into the existing flows of the builders using them. Developer Advocacy is part of our Developer Network team but works closely with product teams across Twilio.
