The Seating and Soft Trim team is looking for a detail-oriented, experienced associate to own a variety of Trim Lab duties and interface with both internal and external suppliers. The right candidate will be able to build & strip production intent seats, direct production associates on master building techniques and oversee trial trim builds. In addition, the role will manage Lectra cutting & digitizing equipment and oversee material and retainer logistics for Trim Lab use.
This person will coordinate with our internal planning, quality, engineering and manufacturing teams. The ideal candidate will have experience within an automotive environment, or with other types of interior, seating and soft trim materials.
Responsibilities
  • Build and strip all Tesla seating options (all models, all rows).
  • Master trim builder/New product training.
  • Coordinate engineering trial builds.
  • Run/program Lectra cutting machine for multiple pattern sets.
  • Digitize pattern sets using Lectra and Gerber equipment.
  • Parts management including foam, frame, plastics and covers.
  • Manage all materials and retainers for usage in Trim Lab.
  • Manage all shipping and receiving for the team.
  • Wrapping of interior trim panels.
  • Potential cut/sew of seat covers.
  • Generate a thorough understanding of all processes and assembly equipment used on the seating assembly line, as well as an expertise in the various cutting machines, CAD software, and all fabrication equipment used on-site in the Trim Lab.

Skills / Qualifications
  • Knowledge of trim development process and best practices
  • Knowledge of trim retention methods and best practices
  • Knowledge of trim materials (leather, cloth, PVC, carpet, foam)
  • CAD proficient and ability to read CAD drawings
