Role
The Lab Operations Test Parts Coordinator will work as a member of the Test Facilities & Equipment Engineering Team within the Test Engineering Organization.
This position will support all Engineering Test teams performing in-house testing within the Palo Alto Lab. The primary objective of this role is to manage the parts room & tool crib for the lab. The successful candidate for this position must have a background and a proven record of success in parts inventory, ordering and organization. This candidate takes pride in their hands-on abilities, organization skills and attention to detail. They appreciate an environment where superior work is encouraged, noticed and rewarded.
Responsibilities
  • Managing incoming part / fastener requests from test engineers and technicians
  • Collaborate with material approvers, handlers and Shipping / Receiving teams; submit material requests using internal software via. WARP MTT
  • Material pick-up and delivery from multiple warehouse locations
  • Verify archived parts shelf life through collaboration with test and design teams
  • Inventory basic shop consumables and re-order through internal purchasing app
  • Support engineers and technicians on test setup & execution where needed during downtime
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Performing the day to day operations of the lab that consist of forklifting, pallet jack use, lifting and moving of material as requests arise
  • Assisting with Test Parts, Tools and Equipment logistics, including shipments, transfers and tracking to/from all Tesla locations
  • Creating and enforcing lab procedures, processes and safety measures
  • Purchasing shop consumables, equipment, tools and parts as needed
  • Assisting with the coordination, relocation and placement of test parts, tools and equipment
  • Maintaining the lab organization as well as storage and test sample disposition activities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a requirement to establish effective working relationships within Tesla

Requirements
  • A minimum of 4 years of workshop/warehouse, industrial facility, test laboratory or other appropriate industry experience required
  • Experience with inventory methodology and software is a must

  • Experience and demonstrated success with 5S or similar workplace organization methods.
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools and materials used within a test lab environment is a plus
  • Ability to follow oral, written, email, and text message instructions
  • Ability to communicate clearly using excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Ability to remain engaged, proactive and positive in tough circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability for their success
  • Maintain flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments, coping with rapidly changing information and tasks
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including the public
  • Work in a team-based environment to achieve common goals
  • Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience with MS office tools (Outlook/Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Project), and Adobe products
  • Prior Forklift experience preferred
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Must have ability to lift 50 lbs
