Technical Program Manager

Tesla’s Information Security organization is looking for a highly motivated Technical Program Manager to help maintain Tesla’s high security bar. The Information Security Engineering Program Management team partners closely with engineering teams across Tesla to deliver impactful and scalable security initiatives.
The successful candidate is one who has the ability to work directly with software developers to understand their needs, and design security systems and solutions that enable developers to operate more effectively, securely and safely.
You can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery. You are proactive in removing roadblocks, pave the way for innovation, and can handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You will be a positive influencer across diverse teams, be able to effectively rally support for your initiatives, and be able to help deeply technical teams create simple solutions to meet your program goals. You are able to handle business escalations with a data-driven approach to build trust with engineers and senior leaders.
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of Information Security fundamentals, and ability to gain a technical understanding of the entirety of the program across its lifecycle.   • Own the scope, road map, implementation and tracking of projects from start to finish
  • Set goals, track deliverables, manage expectations, identify risk and drive mitigations across all stages of the project
  • Act as subject matter expert on risk-based security reviews and assessments
  • Drive projects cross functionally, build partnerships with other organizations, and work proactively with business teams to ensure security objectives are met
  • Partnering with the program sponsor, architects, tech leads and engineers, business leads and dependent system stakeholders to ensure milestones are met and project is a success
  • Manage executive expectations and owning escalation, communication, and C-level engagement on critical strategic projects for the company
  • Building, evolving, and improving sustainable processes and measurement systems to ensure that security policy requirements are maintained.
  • Ensure timely completion of technical and business artifacts.
  • Lead end-to-end roll-out of global technical solutions in partnership with IT infrastructure, Operations, Compliance and Legal
  • Security knowledge on current threats, trends and mitigations
  • Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity to detailed solutions
  • Solid foundation in software engineering principles

  • 5+ years of technical experience total with 3+ years Technical Program Management experience in the Information Security, Network Security, Risk Management, Cyber Security, or related security domains
  • Experience in developing and driving security initiatives such as building platform wide authentication systems, authorization at scale, vulnerability management, etc. This includes defining scope, driving consensus on the technical design, building and aligning on roadmaps and proactively identifying and managing risks.
  • Background in computer science, software engineering, and/or related technical field
  • Governance experience in IT governance, policy development, and application controls implementation
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Extremely strong written and verbal communication skills to drive projects across multiple programs, manage stakeholder expectations, and ensure projects are on task
  • Solid foundation and understanding of audit/risk management methodologies and regulatory requirements pertaining to information security, privacy and/or data security that will allow the PM to make recommendations where applicable and relate their need back to business units.
  • Experience working in partnership with Infrastructure, Platform Security, Internal Audit, Red Team, and Information Security Teams to remediate risk assessment findings on defined timelines
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing requirements quickly.
  • Experience working with Incident Response and Detection teams and environments a plus
  • Proficiency in project management tools – MS office suite, Confluence, Jira
