The Role
Tesla is seeking a talented Senior Paralegal to join our legal team at our Fremont, CA location. This role will directly support Tesla’s Product Liability Litigation Team. The ideal candidate will have technical acumen and experience with various types of litigation, including pre-litigation and litigation matters involving vehicle accidents and other claims of alleged vehicle defects. The position will report directly to the Staff Paralegal, Product Liability.

Responsibilities


  • Support internal and external litigation counsel in all stages of litigation, including trial.
  • Assist with the factual development and analysis of cases, including talking with the relevant business partners, gathering and reviewing documents, and creating timelines.
  • Manage the discovery process, including the collection, retention, and production of documents, and drafting written responses to discovery.
  • Draft basic legal documents, including settlement agreements, document retention notices, and response letters.
  • Prepare court documents for filing.
  • Maintain the litigation calendar and monitor case dockets.
  • Intake, log, track and respond to pre-litigation demands letters, including conversing with opposing counsel or insurance representatives.


Requirements


  • 5+ years of relevant experience handling litigation matters, with a strong preference for defense-side personal injury/product liability litigation.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certification preferred or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability.
  • Litigation law firm and/or automotive insurance company experience required, in-house experience a plus.
  • Understanding of litigation discovery, motion practice, arbitration, trial and appellate procedure a plus.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, fact-finding, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient to expert knowledge of Office, including Excel and SharePoint required. Experience with Relativity is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently while accounting appropriately for time.
  • Strong work ethic with a goal-oriented focus as well as flexibility to take on new areas of responsibilities.
