The Test Solutions Engineering Team is an agile and diverse group working across all three business streams; Vehicle, Energy and Off- Board Charging. The team provides turnkey test solutions working with a range of groups from research and development through to manufacturing test.
The team leverages Tesla’s own products and technologies to create innovative test solutions to expedite R&D and validation cycle times, reducing both cost and complexity. These include motor, powertrain and all-wheel drive dynamometers, high-power bidirectional AC and DC sources, grid simulators, data acquisition, and advanced software control systems. This function operates at the heart of Tesla’s core technologies.
In this role, you will integrate and develop hardware and software test solutions, working with internal teams to develop test specifications, interface technologies, undertaking electrical and PCB design, safety systems, and signal conditioning for data acquisition. You will work directly with the Test Systems Engineering group, comprised of mechanical, electrical and software design, as well as the build and test operations teams.
Convert problem statements to specification requirements
Design and develop end to end hardware and software test solutions
Work with ME, EE, SW and FW teams to ensure seamless technology integration
Equipment validation and certification
Equipment commissioning and debug
Create operational and maintenance documentation
Test system training
Minimum Degree in electrical and electronic engineering; or equivalent experience in a related field
Experience with a multitude of laboratory test equipment
Strong knowledge of 3-phase, split-phase, and single-phase, low and high voltage power electronic systems
Strong knowledge dyno’s, power systems and switchgear components
Experience with embedded computing (microcontrollers, DSPs and PLCs)
Proficient in NEC NFPA 70 and international installation codes
Experience in PCB design (Altium or equivalent)
Experience with test automation and data analysis in Python, exposure to packages such as Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib and Pytest
Data acquisition tools ranging from oscilloscopes and power analyzers to high power AC amplifiers
Familiarity with test equipment communication interface such as SCPI, Modbus and CAN
Experience with Jenkins & Git
