The Role
The Program Manager, Energy Channel Training will oversee the formal intake process and program management for training initiatives that support Tesla Energy channel partners across residential and commercial lines of business including Solar Panels, Solar Roof, Powerwall, Supercharger, and Megapack. The Channel network includes Contractors, Sub-Contractors, Certified Installers (CI), and Third-Party Service Providers (3PSP). The responsibilities of this role include business/needs analysis, consultation, business partner relationship management, strategic program creation and oversight. Additional responsibilities may include development of learning objectives, curriculum design, or other elements of the instructional design process as needed. This individual will leverage their strategic mindset to operationalize an effective and sustainable channel partner training model. They will have experience with adult learning theory and a strong project or program management background. As a Program Manager, they will partner with leaders and stakeholders to develop and maintain training strategies, roadmaps, and execution tactics for channel partners. This individual will be comfortable working at both a strategic and tactical level. This role will enable alignment, efficiency, and measurable improvements to new and existing programs and processes strengthening the impact training has on partners and growing Energy Training’s strategic partnership with the business.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with cross-functional business partners internal and external to training
  • Partner with workstream owners, project/program managers, stakeholders, and others to understand broad business view and operationalize a channel partner training strategy
  • Manage incoming training requests, prioritization, and project management for Tesla Energy Channel Partners (Contractors, Sub-Contractors, CIs, 3PSPs)
  • Gather/curate necessary qualitative and quantitative data to conduct a thorough training analysis
  • Facilitate the development of the financial business case and project/program KPIs
  • Consult with business to outline intended outcomes and collect preliminary information and assets to move justified projects forward
  • Form an understanding of existing content landscape and training roadmap to leverage efficiencies for channel partners where relevant
  • Develop and own the analysis process and complex workflows, planning across multiple delivery teams and against aggressive timelines
  • Execute elements of instructional design as needed to bring projects to life, such as creation of learning objectives, curriculum design, or creation of learning materials
  • Lead efforts to secure stakeholder and channel partner buy-in and alignment throughout project / program lifecycle
  • Consult on partner agreements, contracts, or communication as necessary to align with training strategy
  • Ensure projects adhere to defined scope, budget, schedule, and other project boundaries
  • Manage project risks, develop contingency plans, and actively communicate updates and changes to all relevant stakeholders
  • Keep project management tool updated and leverage to provide visibility of strategy, timelines, communication, training, and success metrics
  • Build and maintain project management dashboards and roadmaps relevant to various levels of leadership and key stakeholders
  • Track project progress and follow-up with accountable parties
  • Identify project/initiative KPIs and track progress to gauge effectiveness of development practices
  • Conduct post project/program evaluations in partnership with evaluation team, including capturing relevant, timely feedback and incorporating successes and areas for improvement into future program iterations
  • Lead ongoing training awareness/alignment efforts in partnership with business stakeholders and audiences
  • Gather feedback and develop process improvement recommendations for optimal training outcomes

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, project management, training, or a related field required
  • Master’s Degree in business, project management, training, or a related field preferred
  • 3+ years experience in a role dedicated to supporting channel partner training
  • 2+ years experience in a project or program management role
  • Prior consulting experience preferred
  • PMP Certification preferred
  • Exposure to JIRA project management platform preferred
  • Understanding of adult learning theory including ADDIE process and Kirkpatrick’s Levels of Learning Evaluation
  • Compelling written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills to audiences comprised of all levels of leadership
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions
  • Highly motivated, self-starter able to work autonomously and drive the work they own forward effectively
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous environment managing multiple projects, priorities, and urgent issues simultaneously
