Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Casting - Gigafactory Berlin (m/w/d)

The Role
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading engineering team to improve operations by leading projects and installations, lead tooling and fixture development, driving continuous improvements, to meet quality standards and optimizing flow, capacity, ergonomics, safety. This position reports to the Gigafactory Berlin, Manager Casting/Plastics.

  • Drive engineering solutions to increase production output, efficiency, waste reduction and cost improvements.
  • Define and manage layout, design and equipment implementation in time, cost, and efficient manner
  • Lead new technology introduction in Tesla`s in-house foundry, developing new tooling and fixtures to improve operations
  • Work with cross functional team to create efficient job station layouts and improved equipment process flow
  • Understand machine capacity, create machine line loads and implement equipment contingency plans
  • Manage Equipment Engineers and Controls Engineers
  • Create, track & use metrics that emphasizes safety, quality, efficiency & cost
  • Partner with Castings Production Management, Maintenance, and Production to develop and execute production ramps
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with process documentation for standardized work
  • Complete new job time studies using prototype, conceptual and/or final parts
  • Work with Facility and Construction Team to assure equipment utilities needs for production

  • BS/MS degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • +3 years of prior manufacturing experience in leadership positions.
  • Experience in a High Pressure Die Casting Production environment
  • Experience supervising engineering teams, resolving conflict, and hiring and developing team members and leaders. Ability to foster close working relationships with team members and management.
  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Effectively communicate to all levels in the organization, including large group presentations and translate complex ideas into a simple easy to understand format.
  • Skilled in leading, coaching and developing direct reports across a broad range of engineering and technical disciplines.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills (man, method, machine, material, etc...).
  • Knowledge of daily start-up qualification procedures in a Castings environment
  • Able to effectively multitask being committed to continuous improvement. Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
  • Fluency in English or German languages
