This role will be a key position in the development of new products at GF Shanghai. It will require significant expertise and knowledge of mechanical electric vehicle design and thorough knowledge of a range of vehicle product attributes including packaging, dimensional control and NVH. This expertise will be required from initial target definition through to design development and validation.
In this position, you will lead several engineers who will be responsible for specific attribute disciplines. You will provide technical support and guidance, consolidate status and be central to the resolution of conflicting requirements. It will be critical you enable excellent collaboration with other Tesla teams including other Engineering groups, Manufacturing and Styling as well as some external suppliers.
Once virtual design development reaches completion, you will need to develop efficient and effective methods for physical validation and establishing any final design refinements to meet the attribute targets.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Lead Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:
  • Lead the GF Shanghai Engineering Attribute Team by providing technical support and guidance to maximize the effectiveness of the team.
  • Drive attribute issue resolution by developing alternative solutions, gather supporting data and gaining direction from an appropriate level.
  • Provide efficient communication of attribute status and converge on attribute design solutions, within the program timing.
  • Identify, track and prioritize attribute issues to ensure the team focus is appropriate and balanced.
  • Define a strategy for attribute validation to provide physical review of all attribute targets with optimum timing.

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8+ years’ vehicle design development experience within integration, NVH or Dimensional Analysis.
  • Broad and thorough experience of design requirements across electrical vehicle systems.
  • Significant direct team leadership experience.
  • Thorough understanding of an engineering development process.
  • Good design, packaging and 3D modeling skills using CATIA.
  • Analyze statistical data to establish target based design compatibility and to make recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral fluency in English.
  • Demonstrate exceptional ability, management of difficult projects with tight timing constraints and provide examples of notable achievements throughout your career.
  • An inherent attention to detail and an understanding of the factors that create a perception of exceptional quality in the mind of the consumer.
