The Role
Tesla Energy is looking for an amazing Embedded Software Engineer to drive next generation designs and improve current designs. This role entails significant ownership of our world class Energy product firmware, ranging from architecture, implementation, through validation and ongoing fleet improvements.

  • Write high-quality C code for realtime embedded systems.

  • Use unit testing, software-in-loop testing, and hardware-in-loop testing to ensure correctness.

  • Hands-on hardware bring up, system debugging, and code optimization.

  • Implement continuous improvements and best practices within the team, and larger organization.

  • Drive firmware/hardware co-design for optimized solutions and schedules.


  • BS or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mechatronics (with software engineering background); or demonstration of excellence in related skills and principles.

  • Capable of delivering top quality C and C++ code in a real time embedded environment.

  • Expert software fundamentals including architectural design, algorithm development, data structures, code modularity, and maintainability.

  • Hands-on bringup of hardware (motors, actuators, sensors, microcontrollers, etc.)

  • Hands-on experience working with serial communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C, etc.)

  • Good understanding of physics and how your code will behave on real physical systems.

  • Experience delivering customer-facing software and hardware.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


  • Familiarity with thermodynamics and thermal systems.

  • Experience with CAN bus

  • Experience with Simulink and modeling.
