Role - Electrical Design EngineerResponsibilities
- Develop custom motor, sensor, and power distribution circuit boards
- Start to finish ownership of boards: specification, architecture, circuit design, simulation, schematic, layout supervision, prototype, validation, and manufacturing support
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers
- Question the norm by coming up with creative ideas to make better robot hardware
- Thoroughly document design requirements, calculations, power budgets, validation results
- Rapidly iterate as architecture evolves
Requirements
- 2+ years of circuit board design experience
- Competent in PCB CAD software (Altium preferred)
- Strong understanding of analog & digital circuits (motor control, MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, microcontrollers, SPI, I2C, etc.)
- Can provide real-life examples of electronics design projects
- Exceptional organization and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to tackle problems and reason using a first principles approach
- Proficiency with lab equipment and troubleshooting
- Programming ability (Python, embedded C/C++, VHDL)
- Experience developing electronic systems for robots
- Communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, EtherCAT)
