ECAD Applications Support Engineer, Design Technology
The Design Technology team is responsible for developing systems which facilitate and accelerate the pace of design and manufacturing at Tesla across the entire portfolio of products: Passenger vehicles, Commercial vehicles, Energy & Solar. We are seeking a motivated ECAD Support Specialist to be based in Fremont, California. This person will work closely with the electrical design engineering teams to revolutionize the way Tesla works with ECAD tools. This role will fundamentally transform the way engineers create and communicate their work which will have a direct impact on Tesla’s ability to scale the company worldwide.

  • Develop methods and best practices for Mentor Graphics Capital and 3DEXPERIENCE ECAD tools

  • Work closely with electrical engineering teams to support functional requirements in their use of ECAD tools

  • Deliver user training, mentoring and support of CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE Electrical apps, and Mentor Capital tools

  • Understand business processes, gather requirements and develop solutions in ECAD systems that are aligned with business goals

  • Work with vendors and service providers to enable resolutions and enhancements

  • Function as a Mentor Capital Admin and Librarian


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with at least 5+ years of progressive experience in the industry

  • Requires advanced knowledge of one or more CATIA, 3DEXPERIENCE, Mentor Capital, Altium

  • Thorough knowledge of Mentor Graphics Capital tools: Logic, Harness XC and Capital Integrator

  • Knowledge of CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, Electrical and Wire Harness Design

  • Experience in PCB layout design and end user best practices

  • Exhibit strong analytical skills, problem solving ability and project management experience

  • Excellent customer service approach

  • Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills

  • Familiarity with automotive vehicle design
