A rarity in digital media, podcast advertising drives results for advertisers, allows creators to profit and (when done well) entertains listeners. Spotify — through its growing ads business and ongoing investment in original audio content — has the outstanding opportunity to amplify and scale what’s great about podcast ads by building the first truly digital podcast ad experience.
Our team is looking for a user researcher to join the band. You’ll study user behavior, critical initiatives, content, and new features to bring data and insights into every decision we make.
We are developing a standout advertising platform to support podcasts on Spotify. The User Researcher in this area will be helping to answer questions such as:How are different players in the podcast world impacted by streaming ad insertion?How can we understand what drives podcast consumption and discovery? How can we build personal and relevant ad experiences for users?
We’re looking for someone who can craft studies to gain a deeper understanding of how Spotify listeners experience podcasts and podcast ads. We want someone who sees advertising and podcast content as an exciting problem space – how does advertising slot into, augment, deliver or enable great listening experiences? How do we balance what’s good for business with the need to champion, empower and protect our users?
What You’ll Do

Who You Are
Excited to lead complex, rigorous, strategic research projectsSomeone who would like to lead research through every step of the product development cycle.
You have worked in a research role at a consumer-focused company or you’re keen to tackle such a roleInterested in immersing yourself in podcast advertising
You have experience or interest in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Comfortable planning, prioritizing, conducting, analyzing and communicating research
An excellent storyteller and communicator, able to speak fluently to business people, designers, engineers and other partners (in English)A dedicated advocate of a user- centered approach to product development
You enjoy collaborative work in a dynamic, creative environment.
