Role:
Are you interested in being part of a small team tasked to build the next-generation industry-leading platform for machine data? Splunk is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Data Platform - Search Services team. The Search Services team is building the backend to power our next-gen search experience and onboard new products around observability and security. We are a critical part of Splunk’s Cloud Services Platform built on top of Kubernetes, Docker, and other Cloud Native technologies.
We give our engineers an environment in which they can contribute from day one while also providing learning and growth opportunities. You'll learn how our entire stack works, from data ingestion and storage to searching, reporting, and building dashboards, all in distributed environments. The work you’ll do will directly impact the experience of our customers.
Responsibilities:
  • You will craft and implement new features in SPL2 as well as the opportunity to define and perform various SPL2 optimizations and /or modifications.
  • You'll build a set of language services to enable partner teams to leverage SPL2 in the next generation of Splunk products and services.
  • Contribute to maintaining our build system, codebase, tests, and development process in awesome shape.
  • Work with internal and external customers to refine our team's understanding of target scenarios and incorporate their feedback into incremental improvements of our product
Requirements:
  • 5 years of related experience with a technical Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent practical experience;
  • 3+ years experience developing and debugging with an object-oriented language like Java, C or Golang
  • You have some exposure to cloud technologies such as EC2, S3, etc.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Dockers and/or Containers.
What We Offer You:
A constant stream of new things to learn. We're always expanding into new areas, bringing in open source projects and contributing back, and exploring new technologies.
A set of exceptionally talented and dedicated peers, all the way from engineering and QA to product management and customer support.
Breadth and depth. You want to work in an area that spans backend and frontend and SDKs? We have that. You want to go deep into optimizing how we compress data for fast random-access retrieval? We have that too, and more.
Growth and mentorship. We believe in growing engineers through ownership and leadership opportunities. We also believe mentors help both sides of the equation.
A stable, collaborative, and supportive work environment. We work in an open environment, have a shared kitchen, and sit down for a quick sync every morning.
We don't expect people to work 12 hour days. We want you to have a successful time outside of work too. Want to work from home sometimes? No problem. We trust our colleagues to be responsible for their time and commitment and believe that balance helps cultivate a phenomenal environment.
