Role
Are you a communications pro who is passionate about storytelling and technology? Are you looking to join a fast-paced, rapidly growing, creative and crucial communications team? As a Public Relations Manager dedicated to our Security business, you will be part of a team that plays a strategic role in the growth of the Splunk brand.
The threat landscape grows more dangerous and complicated by the day. Splunk provides a data-driven approach enabling security teams to quickly monitor, detect and act on attack-relevant data. If you love storytelling around cybersecurity and how the threat landscape is changing the way organizations are tackling fraud and security threats, while also increasing their security efficiency, this could be the ideal role for you!
Experience with cybersecurity PR and executive communications is highly desired and journalism or PR agency background is a plus. You will be reporting to Splunk’s head of product PR.
Responsibilities
  • Lead overall security communications and other strategic initiatives - including working with executives in those programs.
  • Work closely with Splunk’s Security team to identify and promote unique stories detailing how Splunk helps security teams quickly monitor, detect and act on attack-relevant data.
  • Plan and execute various communications projects / programs with internal and external partners.
  • Support key security executives and provide strategic counsel regarding public relations and social media opportunities.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with journalists, analysts and influencers in business, trade and security media.
  • Write press releases, blogs and other collateral as assigned.
  • Assist in global PR and corporate PR; day-to-day management of PR agency partners.
Requirements
  • 5-7 years of experience in PR, journalism or related occupation and preferably with 4+ years working at a security or enterprise software company
  • Existing relationships with journalists at security and technology focused media outlets
  • Excellent writing skills across a wide range of deliverables; from traditional PR to blogs to contributed content
  • Passion for creative storytelling, written and verbal communications
  • Strong understanding of key trends driving business in security
  • Understanding of and experience with various social media platforms
  • Professional and high-energy demeanor with the ability to network and establish relationships with customers, partners and employees
  • Ability to work well across various teams/departments from sales and business development to marketing and engineering
  • College degree in journalism, marketing, public relations, business or related subject
  • Proven attention to detail
