Job Description:
The Video Content Production Manager at Pluralsight oversees the end-to-end production operations of video content, from contract to customer, to achieve goals for speed, quality, and publication targets. Every course we produce has to live up to our promise of being the best technology training on the planet, and this role is responsible for creating the conditions for our authors to thrive. The Video Content Production Manager’s primary objective is developing and leading a great team to support video content production operations. Key functions of the team include onboarding and training authors, managing authors/courses in production, performing reviews on course materials, providing feedback to and coaching authors, performing video edits prior to publication and everything else needed to go from contract to publication. To excel as a Video Content Production Manager requires a combination of strong people leadership skills, collaborative and problem solving ability, and a foundational knowledge of video production.

What you’ll own:

  • Lead and drive speed of delivery, scale and quality through the development and implementation of strategic production operations

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of production processes and personnel

  • Oversee hiring, on-boarding and continued training of team members, ensuring strategic alignment with business objectives and desired impact

  • Coach direct reports on personal development plans; create opportunities for them to grow into additional responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain strategic communications and relationships with authors

  • Resolve escalated production and/or project concerns

  • Prepare, monitor, and analyze data about production operations to identify opportunities of risk and impact

  • Identify, design, and implement opportunities to improve operations; prioritize and execute projects to realize improvements

  • Collaborate with stakeholders (product, engineering, content, and data science, etc.) to design and manage experiments that uncover new opportunities to improve operations

  • Serve on the video content production product experience leadership team, collaborating with product and engineering in developing the vision, strategy, and execution for video content tooling

  • Establish cadence for reviewing quality standards and ensuring they deliver value in partnership with Content Performance

  • Collaborate on and lead cross-functional initiatives related to the development of author experience design, process, and resources

  • Ensure author support resources are maintained (author kit, slide deck template, icon library, troubleshooting tips)

  • Create and maintain documentation for production operations

  • Plan, monitor, and lead to the success of business-critical OKRs with the team and stakeholders

  • Collaborate with, lead to, and align with Content leaders to address evolving needs and demands of the business

  • Research, develop, pilot, and manage other innovative uses of video content formats

  • Developing and executing, in coordination with other Skills Development contributors, means to track the engagement of specific cohorts with the Pluralsight platform over time.

  • Conduct cohort analysis of learner behaviors to determine the impact of Video Content in moving key organizational metrics.

Experience you’ll need:

  • Bachelors required

  • 5 years of professional experience in production or project management

  • Experience with and passion for leading and developing teams

  • Experience leading and managing projects at all stages; knowledge of Project Management best practices, particularly Agile, a plus

  • Strong fundamental knowledge of the following:

    • Visual concepts and principles

    • Typographic design and communication

    • Microsoft PowerPoint

    • Digital audio/video production and editing software:

      • Adobe Premiere, Audition, and Media Encoder - required

      • Camtasia, ScreenFlow, Snagit - required

      • After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator - a plus

  • Comfortable with basic statistical concepts

  • Outstanding attention to detail

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Outstanding problem solving skills

  • Experience using office productivity applications, especially Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets

  • Experience collaborating with product and engineering teams

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute with little to no oversight

  • Ability to develop and continually improve business-critical operations required
