Job Description Summary: The Instrumentation Solution team seeks a top-performing, highly motivated analytics expert to join our growing team. You will have the opportunity to work with multiple business/engineering groups, use your knowledge and experience to elevate the quality of tracking & instrumentation across the company, help data engineers build scalable platforms that produce business metrics, and enable monitoring on those metrics.
Job Description:
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Partner closely with other Product Managers to understand new product offerings being built and work with analysts to recommend the right metrics to measure the performance of those features
  • Provide strategic and tactical guidance on specific data elements that need to be tracked in order to enable tracking of metrics and assess user behavior
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams, provide ongoing support to help instrument tracking elements
  • Collaborate with data platform teams to build/enhance necessary data platforms to provide metrics & business insights and in building, alerts to monitor those metrics
  • Develop a strong understanding of the PayPal tracking infrastructure; Identify and act upon opportunities for simplicity, consistency, and re-usability of tracking code
  • Document best practices for data tracking and maintain documentation for self-service use
  • Create data strategies and programs for the long-term success of business teams and ensure engineering teams are positioned to deliver results.
  • Ability to translate business requirements and work with various levels of business stakeholders to create innovative solutions.
  • Analyze data covering a wide range of information from user profile to transaction history. Identify new customer behavior patterns through data mining
  • Work with large volumes of data; extract and manipulate large datasets using standard tools such as Python, Hadoop, R, SQL
  • Solid understanding of concepts like Web Services, SOA, REST APIs, Message Queue, Distributed/Scalable Architecture
  • Hands-on Programming expertise in Java/J2EE with a specific focus on large scale distributed systems
  • Communicate complex concepts and the results of the analyses in a clear and effective manner through creative visualization

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering (Masters preferred but not required) discipline with a strong quantitative aptitude
  • At least 5 years of work experience. At least 2-3 years of analytical experience in a business context, focused on web, mobile or product analytics
  • Strong SQL skills required
  • Experience working with Hadoop, Apache Spark, and big data technology preferred but not required
  • Solid understanding of behavioral analytics concepts with respect to UX design, data tracking, AB testing, and metrics
  • Understanding of service-oriented architecture, data flows in multi-tier systems, event tracking, and relational data structures
  • Previous experience working with Product Managers & Analysts in designing and driving data tracking for business metrics for stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and skilled at adjusting communication style/vocabulary to audience's role/function and technical familiarity
