Job Description Summary: Software development for multi-cloud public and private cloud automation.
Job Description:
Work on multi cloud public and private Cloud Control and data plane automation.
Implement next generation cloud platform in a hybrid cloud setting to support PayPal business teams to scale their applications that serve millions of customers world wide and process billions of dollars in payments. The engineer would drive solutions and implementation leveraging different open source distributed systems, drive its adoption and deliver a complete product. Engineer would be creative to build brand new solutions from scratch.
Candidate would spend time automating in cloud vendor agnostic manner all the control plane components powering this platform. Components like Mesos, Kubernetes, Zookeeper, Consul, Software load balancers, and lower level compute, storage, network and security resources.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working experience in building massively scalable high performance services.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Ability to identify Performance bottlenecks.
  • Contribution in open source projects a plus.
  • Experience in building highly available platforms running in production handling no downtime rollouts.

Job Requirements
  • 5+ years programming experience Go/C++/JAVA (Go is preferred)
  • Good knowledge of one or more scripting languages (shell/python)
  • Keen on developing monitoring, alerting tools/automations
  • 5+ years experience administrating linux systems.
  • Good knowledge of configuration mgmt. systems (ansible/puppet/chef)
  • Strong docker fundamentals
  • Working knowledge on any one of these distributed datastore systems: Zookeeper/etcd/consul
  • Working knowledge on any one of these cluster managers: Mesos/kubernetes/docker swarm. Mesos is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental distributed system principles.
