In partnership with the broader Employee Communications and Engagement team, you will lead the strategy, content and delivery of communications from our HR CoEs in ways that create a cohesive experience for employees, streamline their ability to access the HR services and support they need, and provide tangible connections to our mission and values.
This is a global role, reporting to the Director of Communications for HR and Employee Experience, and based in Austin or Chicago.
What you will do:
  • Serve as the primary internal communications partner to leaders and project teams across our global HR centers of excellence (CoEs), including Benefits, Compensation, Talent, and Learning & Development.
  • Develop and execute strategic HR communications plans that both inform and inspire employees, creating a more streamlined experience by helping them “connect the dots” and more easily understand and access our world-class HR offerings.
  • Evolve and maintain a central HR narrative that reinforces the HR organization’s broad objectives to support the business, bring our culture to life and enhance the overall experience of working at PayPal.
  • Manage a complex calendar of HR communications needs and matrix of internal stakeholders across the HR organization. This will be done in partnership with the broader communications function to ensure the content and cadence of HR communications aligns with the broader communications activities and rhythms of the company.
  • Partner closely with the HR organization to help maintain and evolve enterprise communications channels for employees to access HR information, support and resources.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel and support to HR leaders as they continually evolve and transform our HR programs and offerings to align with the changing needs of the company.
  • Ensure that business leaders and people managers companywide are educated and equipped to support their teams with navigating HR programs and offerings.
  • Measure the impact of HR communications in driving overall employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Gather and leverage critical insights and best practices, both internally and externally, to evolve HR communications strategies and improve both creativity and efficiency of content creation on behalf of the HR organization.

Qualities of the right candidate for this role:
  • A minimum of 12 years of leading internal communications for a globally dispersed workforce. Experience working within HR and/or partnering with HR is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of key HR organizational roles, functions and responsibilities within a large global company.
  • Passionate and excited about the intersection between HR and comms, and excited to jump in each day to make meaningful contributions to our employees’ experience at PayPal.
  • Love to write and can articulate complex ideas simply, creatively and with heart.
  • Comfortable and effective in serving as a strategic communications partner to senior leaders and HR subject matter experts; able to confidently offer ideas and negotiate communication plans, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to embrace ongoing change, pivot quickly, and effectively deliver against tight deadlines; demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and grace under pressure.
  • Enjoy both strategizing and “rolling up your sleeves” to execute plans.
  • Understand and embrace the idea that HR communications can be creative and inspiring vs. dull and formulaic.
  • Highly organized and able to effectively juggle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Diplomatic, with the ability to identify and manage organizational and cultural sensitivities.
  • A good sense of humor, enjoy collaborating with really bright people, and see work as fun!
