Job Description Summary: PayPal Consistent Experience Framework team provides the technology capabilities that powers the one-time payment (checkout) and repeat payments (vaulted wallet) experiences. The software this team develops enables the most significant payment volume and fastest growing revenue area for the company. We are seeking an experienced engineering manager, that will be driving the technical vision of our web application platform. You will guide the team towards that vision and enable the growth of the engineers on the team. As an engineering leader, you will be expected to be able to attract and retain talent. You will maintain the culture of the engineering team to foster innovation, collaboration, wellness, and inclusion. Job Description:
We are organized as a cross-functional team composed of Front End Engineers, Product Designers, & Back End Engineers and the ideal candidate has experience working closely with all three practices. We work in a “3-in-a-box” model where we work closely with the Design Lead, Tech Lead and Product Manager to build a well-rounded experience. We are remote friendly. We value our diverse culture.
We adopt a rapid iteration lean startup and rapid experimentation approach. It’s a very fast paced highly innovative environment and we love our work and take pride in it. Communication is key to our process, and we don't want to hinder it with walls. Collaboration is key – since we work with multiple stakeholders and teams. We have no QA department - developers test, release and monitor their own code. We keep the team in sync with daily stand-ups and have regular retrospectives to discuss things that are going well and opportunities for improvements. About you
You will be instrumental in helping scope out both the near-term experience for our customers as well as the next generation of our platform and craft solutions capable of delivering billions of hits every day. We’d like to know that you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy driving innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development.
Required Skills:
  • 3 years of experience leading engineering teams
  • 7-10 years of experience delivering enterprise class applications
  • Ability to work effectively across teams and across functions
  • Excellent decision making skills, able to think rigorously and balance tradeoffs
  • Operates by providing authority, autonomy, and accountability to individuals and teams
  • Encourages a healthy work environment that is both supportive and challenging
  • Experience in leading projects - including design and execution and improving processes in the team independently
  • Strong desire to learn, push the envelope, and share knowledge with others.
  • Proven interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities include:
  • Collaborate with leaders across the company to drive the vision of our web application platform.
  • Define and grow team’s charter while delivering on business needs.
  • Facilitate technical solutioning and delivery of the solutions on-time and with quality.
  • Lead teams to deliver code in an Agile software development environment.
  • Drive the roadmap and priorities for your team, and work with dependencies across the company
  • Coach engineers on the team and provide growth opportunities
