Job Description Summary: As a lead engineer you will be expected to have working knowledge of designing, building and maintaining highly scalable distributed systems. Customer centricity is at the core of everything we do at PayPal and you are expected to be a customer champion and lead by example.
Job Description:
PayPal Invoicing is one of the primary product offerings of PayPal's SMB portfolio. The team owns the end to end user experience and services for the Invoicing platform, catering to small & medium businesses.
As a member of this team, you'll have an opportunity to work on web applications and services that serve millions of users and make a tangible effect on our users lives. The team is small, tight knit and work towards a common goal of helping our customers grow their businesses.
As a Lead Full Stack engineer you will be expected to have working knowledge of designing, building and maintaining highly scalable distributed systems. Customer centricity is at the core of everything we do at PayPal and you are expected to be a customer champion and lead by example.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with the team and stakeholders across the organisation in designing and building highly scalable and reliable product.
  • Translate product requirements into technical solutions.
  • You will be expected to be hands-on with the codebase - code, test and release deliverables
  • Perform design and code reviews
  • Provide technical guidance and direction.
  • Mentor colleagues to help develop strong coding practices and standards across the organization
  • Solve technical challenges, complex real-time issues that our customers are facing.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in building scalable distributed software systems with at least two years experience in leading technical design and delivery.
  • Strong programming fundamentals and analytical skills. Proficient in at least one programming language - preferably Java and/or JavaScript.
  • Solid understanding of architectural considerations such as security, performance, scalability, reliability. Has understanding of real-time online transaction processing systems as well as async processing.
  • Expert in full stack development using Java EE technologies (e. g. Java language, application servers, servlet containers, JMS, JPA, Spring, Spring Boot, JAX-RS, Hibernate or equivalent) and Node JS & React JS
  • Working knowledge of RDBMS. Understanding of NoSQL and other modern database and storage technologies is desirable.
  • Experience in testing frameworks, build tools and CI processes/tools.
  • Strong advocate of code craftsmanship and quality deliverables.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability in working with cross-functional groups and getting results in matrix organisations.
