Job Description Summary: The Global Privacy Team’s mission is to protect critical customer data from misuse by consistently bringing a privacy-first mindset to a constantly evolving industry. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Privacy professional for program compliance with privacy and technical depth, sector expertise and practical self-starter mindset to advise company on navigating the rapidly evolving global privacy landscape. The Sr Manager, Global Privacy Program will be a member of PayPal’s growing Privacy Policy Office and will help lead privacy compliance operations for PayPal, working transversally with legal privacy counsel, privacy and data management professionals, to reflect PayPal’s commitment to privacy and data protection. This role also requires, strong understanding of standards and frameworks related to privacy and data management as Sr Manager, Global Privacy Program will also be responsible for developing and implementing common process benchmarking models to measure the framework maturity and work with cross functional teams for program enhancements.

Position Summary/Responsibilities:

  • Monitor advancements in privacy policy and technologies to support organizational adaptation and compliance.
  • Engage in a wide range of activities aimed at supporting PayPal’s Global Privacy Program, including program sustenance, developing new policies, controls and privacy-related scalable processes in response to business growth and changes in legal requirements. This involves initiatives that are foundational and essential to building and maintaining a mature Global Privacy Program.
  • Collaborate closely with internal business teams to drive long-term risk, compliance, and related projects within the organization.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the ongoing initiatives of the privacy program.
  • Manage internal audit and oversight testing programs for Global Privacy, develop test scripts for high-risk areas and work collaboratively with oversight testing team to put these scripts into practice.
  • Promote activities to foster data privacy awareness throughout the company, and oversee ongoing data privacy training program.
  • Work with the engineer and developer community at PayPal to continue to raise awareness around privacy-by-design and developing guidelines/ awareness material to guide their implementation efforts. This inludes developing/ enhancing privacy-by-design toolkits.
  • Closely monitor privacy developments and leading practices and adjusts strategies and program designs accordingly.
  • Must have attention to detail, a broad understanding of the compliance management system, be a self-starter and poses the flexibility to simultaneously work on a wide range of cross-programmatic initiatives.
  • Ability to understand and document project requirements and dependencies.

The successful candidate should also be able to offer a strategic perspective, sound business judgment, adaptability to changing priorities at hand, and be able to effectively work and communicate collaboratively / cross-functionally with multiple teams located in different geographies. Candidate must have a hands-on approach, strong intellectual curiosity and attention to detail and organization, and a passion for achieving practical business impact. Must be a team player, and should be able to influence, collaborate, negotiate and solve problems with business partners and expert teams across the organizational lines.
Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:
  • Minimum 10 years related experience; 5-7 years of practical experience with common frameworks, standards and methodologies used in data privacy, ideally covering multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience with process definition, process improvement, and strategic planning within a large scale organization.
  • Significant experience managing privacy, data protection requirements for a diverse array of data, ideally with broad global reach.
  • Experience with global data protection laws, standards and associated frameworks (e.g. GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, PDPA, APPI etcetra)
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, ability to communicate complex business information in a clear and compelling way.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and build effective working relationships with internal partners in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to multitask effortlessly and manage competing priorities under demanding deadlines.
  • Strong risk management, organization, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Proven experience leading a global privacy program, with corresponding knowledge of global privacy laws and practices.Knowledge in and the ability to apply the principles of Privacy by Design to regulatory requirements and new products and services.
  • Experience with solving privacy challenges across cross functional teams.
  • Certifications related to Privacy and Data Protection (e.g., International Association of Privacy Professionals certifications) a plus.
  • Experience with Big 4, a plus.
