Director of Engineering, Branded Experiences - Client
The Branded Experiences team at PayPal is looking for a Director of Engineering to lead the newly formed Consumer Payment Experiences team. This organization is responsible for the Payments Experiences across the PayPal and Xoom Consumer applications, and specifically for all Person to Person (P2P) payments experiences. The mission of this team is not only to empower people to make electronic payments quickly and securely, but to build the best user experience in the industry for electronic payments. The products we build empower money movements across all client platforms worldwide.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in hiring, building teams and retaining top talent, establishing scalable and sustainable architecture and engineering practices, collaborate on the strategy & roadmap working closely with product, design and PMO organizations, besides technical prowess and demonstrated experience building client software applications across all platforms. Experience with Fintech and Electronic Payment apps preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Consumer Payment Experiences Client Engineering organization, working with Product and Design to define product roadmap and build the best products for the PayPal and Xoom clients across all platforms (Web and Native). That includes managing collaboration across teams as needed and resolving competing priorities.
  • Lead the organization to constantly deliver top quality client products on time and on budget. Bring predictability to the team’s overall performance and delivery.
  • Hiring, developing & retaining top talent and be responsible for the overall team structure. Coach and mentor managers and individual contributors.
  • Guide decisions on overall technical plan, including architecture and technical strategy.
  • Own and enhance development processes to ensure the quality of products and code, enhancing the engineering discipline of the team.
  • Keep up to date on industry trends and technologies and apply them quickly to our products.

Skillset:
  • 8+ years of Native and Web Client Engineering and product development experience with strong delivery track record of high-quality consumer products at scale.
  • 4+ years managing software development teams
  • Great technical acumen and experience in a variety of technical stacks and technologies including some of the following: Swift/Objective C, Android, Node.js, JavaScript.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment, including Extreme Programming practices like Iterative Development, Continuous Integration (and Deployment) and Test-Driven Development.
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, develop and retain top mobile talent.
  • Experience building high volume customer-facing applications at scale.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication and presentation skills.
