Job Description Summary: Head of Credit Risk strategies for US PayPal Credit Product. PayPal has a partnership with Synchrony Financial (SYF) to underwrite PayPal-branded credit products. SYF and PayPal Credit ("PPC") are jointly responsible for managing the risk throughout the lifecycle of these credit products. This is an exciting organization where the contributions by the team members directly impact SYF’s and PayPal's bottom lines and create experiences that our customers love. This position will lead the team responsible for creating and optimizing the full lifecycle of credit risk strategies jointly with our bank partner.
Job Description:
Responsibilities:
  • Partner externally and internally to ensure success (bank partner, vendors, strategy, marketing, finance, product, PMO, tech, legal, compliance, etc.)
  • Manage a team of risk managers/analysts
  • Analyze customer level information to determine the effectiveness of credit policies and recommend necessary changes to improve profitability
  • Innovative use of data and processes to design, implement, and improve risk management strategies and the customer experience
  • Determine new and innovative data sources for underwriting
  • Work with Global Data Sciences team to deploy best-in-class machine learning risk models
  • Set/manage to risk appetite while optimizing for profitability

Qualifications:
  • 10+ years related experience
  • 5+ years supervisory experience
  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Finance, Economics or related quantitative discipline or equivalent experience
  • Must be an intuitive, organized, and analytical thinker, with the ability to perform detailed analysis
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills a must
  • Must be able to apply articulate thought leadership, gain and maintain senior leadership trust, and navigate ambiguous situations successfully
