We are looking for a Software Development Manager, who has a passion for building and leading high-performing software development teams, for the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s Networking Software Organization. This manager will lead a team of software development engineers responsible for designing, developing, and operating network monitoring software infrastructure and services for Oracle cloud networking infrastructure.
You should be comfortable supporting distributed systems that interact with a variety of services. You should enjoy building effective organizations, coaching and mentoring engineers, and representing your organization to senior leadership. You should have a passion for customer success. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in leading teams with 8+ software engineers
  • 10 years of experience in developing software to build distributed applications
  • Experience with hiring, building teams, onboarding new engineers, and ongoing performance management
  • 2+ years of project management experience using Agile Methodologies
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent judgment to influence product roadmap direction, features, and priorities

Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of cloud computing & networking technologies including monitoring services
  • Prior experience with datacenter monitoring and management
  • Experience developing automated test suites
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, BitBucket
  • Proficiency with Java and Object-Oriented programming
  • Experience with networking technologies such as SNMP, Netflow, Flow analysis, BGP
  • Exposure to Prometheus, Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, Storm, Ganglia, Nagios, open-TSDB, Elasticsearch or other distributed compute platforms
Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.
Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
