The principal focus of this position is to provide strategic leadership, planning, design, development, implementation, and business consultation of Microsoft’s Performance and Development program. The leader will be expected to create vision, design and implementation, obtain executive support for program direction/continuous improvement, measure success, gain feedback, and evangelize performance development strategy to the HR community, business management and our global employee population. Responsibilities
Responsibilities
  • Program ownership for company-wide Global Performance and Development strategy, design and operationalization that advances our culture, employee experience and business goals.
  • Identify key research, internal and external data, trends like the Future of Work and Digital Transformation, that will inform and influence Performance and Development.
  • Partner closely with senior management and HR partners to drive complex programmatic changes by building the decision-making framework, gaining feedback/support and quickly socializing the changes in a fast-paced environment; influence when major adjustments to design and approach are needed to stay ahead of emerging new/trends.
  • Steward and evolve our approach to peer and manager feedback to encourage effective sharing of perspectives to improve performance and enhance Growth Mindset.
  • Manage the partnership with HR and line management to evangelize Microsoft’s performance & development strategy and identify opportunities and issues.
  • Lead program design, implementation and/or continual improvement work streams; and in partnership with IT and HR Services/Operations, find ways to strengthen process excellence and the employee experience through technological enhancements.
  • Work cross-organizationally and across project teams - to create seamless experiences and consider interrelationships of programs and ideas. Continually improve both what we do and how we go about it by leveraging others and contributing to partner areas. Key partners include Global Learning and Development, Talent (e.g. Career, Manager & Leader Experience), Compensation (Rewards); HR Services, Corporate Communications, Global Diversity and Inclusion, HR Consulting, HR Business Insights and HR Line for input, support and feedback.
  • Identify ways Microsoft’s new talent architecture and career framework can enhance performance and development.
  • Partner with the Compensation/Rewards teams (programs, consulting and exec comp) to provide guidance for and shared accountability in the successful execution of the Annual Rewards allocation process.
  • Hire, manage, motivate, lead a team to achieve the above results; work collaboratively with the broader Total Rewards and HR Business Insights organization, Talent, L&D Teams, Operations and IT partners to develop and implement highest quality P&D policies, programs and tools with global applications.
  • Participate in customer briefings and other external stakeholders to share insights on Microsoft’s performance and development approach as needed.
Qualifications
Required Qualifcations
  • 10+ years of experience in the HR discipline, preferably with leadership experience and demonstrated passion for performance and motivation, organizational and talent systems
  • Master’s degree in business, human resources, psychology or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Exhibit deep growth mindset with willingness to seek divergent perspectives in pursuit of innovation and improvement. Demonstrated acumen in data-driven approach to arrive at data science-based solutions.
  • Organizational systems expertise to understand how performance and development can best integrate with other programs to strengthen, complement and continually reinforce effective organizational and talent systems.
  • Strong experience working in a matrixed, large scale, global environment across multiple disciplines, businesses and stakeholders with varying perspectives to successfully affect change and have impact.
  • Ability to listen to diverse perspectives while influencing others towards innovative solutions that meet their unarticulated needs or interests.
  • Leverage performance and development to amplify cultural attributes that strengthen Microsoft’s success and commitment to cultural pillars including One Microsoft, Growth Mindset, Diversity and Inclusion and Customer Obsession.
  • Experience building and leading diverse teams with direct and indirect reporting responsibilities, and a passion for being an outstanding people manager who leads with empathy, builds trust and coaches the team to pursue the highest quality results.
  • Experience leading programs, change and impact in high growth, dynamic and globally scaled environment.
  • Experience in building global scale HR technology solutions in partnership with IT partners from defining strategy, requirements, project management, implementation and improvement.
