Azure Storage is a foundational part of Azure and is entrusted with storing exabytes of data for everything from the virtual hard disks that back Azure Virtual Machines to customer blobs to SQL Server databases to OneDrive content, all while providing industry leading availability and durability for that data.
We are recruiting a software engineer to join the East coast Storage Resource Provider (SRP) team, the group responsible for all control plane operations in Azure Storage. This employee will collaborate across Azure engineering teams in multiple geographic locations to create new features, enhance existing ones, and help drive SRP-related incidents to swift resolution.

  • Participate in the design, implementation, and execution of a variety of Storage features.
  • Ensure software changes improve quality, performance, and reliability of the system.
  • Participate in code reviews for other team members.
  • Participate in On Call rotations to support live site and drive engineered solutions to improve customer experiences.
  • Learn with the team and adopt relevant new technologies, tools, methods, and processes.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of professional software development experience.
  • S. in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent industry experience; higher degrees and/or specialized work in distributed systems are welcomed.
  • Passionate about writing code and proficiency in C#, C++, Java, or other object-oriented programming languages.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, coding, and debugging skills.
  • DevOps experience working with git and systems like GitHub, Azure DevOps, or GitLab.
  • Experience with cross-team collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience implementing REST APIs.
  • Experience with PowerShell or other scripting languages.
  • Experience with multi-threaded/parallel programming.
  • A strong background in data structures, algorithms, and analysis of algorithm complexity.
  • Experience planning, scheduling, and delivering quality software.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and a desire to collaborate.

Security Clearance Requirements:
Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Candidates must have an active TS and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph) or have an active TS/SCI and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph). This role will require candidates to maintain the TS/SCI (with polygraph) clearance.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
