Principal Software Engineer

We are the ARM Extensibility team in the Azure Core Compute organization. Our mission is to empower the next generation of services in Azure to be integrated natively, allowing them to be consistently managed and consumed through Azure. We’re looking for someone to help define the future of the Azure Resource Manager APIs. This is an exciting and highly impactful role as you will be directly responsible for driving and coordinating the effort to bring consistency in Azure Resource Manager APIs for all Azure services. You will need to work with multiple teams in defining the resource model and API surface along with the build processes and tools that help improve the reliability and bring consistency in the control plane APIs for all Azure Services. Responsibilities
You should be passionate about building high scale distributed services and helping partners and customers digitally transform the way they build and consume applications and services in Azure. You should have deep knowledge and interest in building great APIs and expertise in designing interfaces for cloud scale distributed systems. We are looking for someone with strong collaboration skills, experience building, releasing, and continuously improving distributed services through customer focused and data driven metrics, a proven technical background and a passion for quality and customer/partner empathy. This is an excellent opportunity for you to shape the APIs for managing Azure that handle billions of requests per day. Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and shipping high quality software services.
  • 5+ years of coding experience using C#, Java, C++, Golang or C.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience building REST APIs and designing interfaces.
  • Experience with distributed systems and services in the cloud.
  • Experience with agile software development.
  • Ability to track multiple projects through completion and deal with ambiguity.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; solid written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability troubleshooting complex technical issues for running online services in remote datacenters.
  • Experience with other cloud platforms and open-source projects are a plus.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check. This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
