The Azure Red Team emulates real-world attacks, providing a critical component of Azure’s “Assume Breach” strategy and ensuring readiness against high skill/high focus adversaries. Our focus is on Azure, Microsoft’s cloud platform that is used by 95% of Fortune 500 businesses and comprised of hundreds of products and cloud services.
We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Azure Red Team Commercial Cloud operations. This role stresses leadership, ability to envision and execute to massive scale and against strategic attack trends. Using your technical breach knowledge, you will need to improve internal programs and processes by influence senior leadership to drive investment while providing deep, practical technical guidance to engineers. You will need to be passionate about automation and pushing the boundaries to bring attack simulation and automation at scale.
This is a management role responsible for leading and managing highly technical team who are focused on breach operations (for Microsoft-owned infrastructure and services), emerging threat research, and scaling through Red Team automation. Responsibilities
Communication & Presentation – You will be a trusted advisor and security expert who partners with and advises service teams on detecting vulnerabilities, reducing attack surface, mitigating threats and implementing security best practices. Present findings through proof-of-concept exploits, white papers, brown bags, filing bugs, presentations and formal reports. Work closely with development teams to define and adopt new solutions for secure development and operations of Microsoft cloud services. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience planning, scoping, coordinating complex security initiatives
  • Experience leading, managing, and developing a technical team
  • 5+ years of driving Information Security changes within a federated engineering organization
  • 5+ years of experience communicating with technical engineers and senior leadership
  • Experience with Red Teaming/Pen Testing
  • A strong technical background and solid foundation in software engineering and architecture design
  • BA/BS in an engineering-related discipline

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working on a product with high traffic & many users; live site mentality
