As part of the Modern Work Enablement team, we are seeking a team player who is passionate about Surface hardware and Microsoft 365 cloud solutions and services that empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.
This role reports to the Director of Technical Sales and Readiness and thus is responsible for leading, creating and orchestrating processes across the Modern Work business in support of our Surface business priorities and growth aspirations. Partnering with colleagues across Microsoft's Commercial Business, Engineering, Worldwide Learning, and Marketing, this role will be primarily responsible for building specialist sales capability and execution excellence in Microsoft’s Surface Sales field world-wide.
In this role, the candidate will be responsible for people planning, community development, and amplifying the voice of the specialist sales field.
In addition, this role is responsible for building approaches that harness the feedback, knowledge and power of our field communities to make our products, programs and people improve to deliver even more value to our customers. Responsibilities
As a catalyst for Microsoft's Surface and Modern Work business you will:
  • Engage with the Surface Specialists field community to help harvest and drive best practices, increase technical capabilities and enable the community to achieve success and execute against sales goals.
  • Partner across Modern Workplace GTM, Worldwide Learning, Product Marketing and Engineering teams to ensure programs, initiatives, sales plays are packaged in a way they get consumed by the field. Ensure materials are relevant and effective in the field.
  • Measurably increase technical and sales capability in the field by leveraging workload SMEs, cohorts and tailored readiness activities shaping current and future products, marketing strategies, and customer centricity ideas through your feedback to sales, marketing, and engineering.
  • Lead key programs and tool development related to customer disclosure in coordination with the twice-yearly Surface launch cadence.
  • Execute best in class field sales community and people development across different roles in the Areas and Time Zones. Including on-boarding guidance, sales and technical readiness, and virtual/in-person airlift events.
  • Build the world-class approach to learning that can serve as a role model for how our commercial customers should leverage our modern workplace technology to achieve their desired learning outcomes.
  • Strive for excellence in program, project and process-based work with emphasis on scale through simplification and clarity without compromising planned business outcomes.
  • Curate assets and takes action to share proven practices with all field stakeholders through direct engagement both in customer meetings and via planned readiness events and rhythms.
  • Ensure the right KPIs are in place for our sales field to achieve the right outcomes for our customers and measure progress over time.
  • Engage and present to customers on key opportunities (Customer Executive Briefings, Sales, and Advisory) to help secure their technical decision and preference for Microsoft solutions.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must be dynamic, passionate, self-motivated, confident in working across the company within a highly matrix organization to define and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. They need to be able to gain the trust and confidence of the communities they serve and be a visible leader who can drive results and who truly make a difference to the communities.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Microsoft Surface solutions with the ability to understand key end-user scenarios, customer value propositions, and practical sales knowledge for Surface and Microsoft technologies and/or competitive solutions.
  • Proven expert leading presentations, demonstrations and workshops for Surface and devices
  • Experience delivering change management, technical sales readiness, field enablement plans and programs that are designed for scale to diverse global audiences worldwide.
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor a broad technical constituency.
  • Proven ability to distill widely variant feedback and recommend actionable feedback to product teams.
  • You must be able to work independently, handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, and negotiate and collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent collaborator with ability to work across engineering, marketing and field teams to programmatically address top sales and technical opportunities and challenges to influence senior decision makers.
  • Previous program and project management experience complimented by demonstrated operational excellence
  • Experience in the Microsoft Sales organization, preferably with direct Surface Specialist and hardware sales experience
