Your Role and Responsibilities
Toolbox@IBM provides IBMers with a wide range of desktop and software-as-a-service (SaaS) tools for collaboration and software development / DevOps.
The advertised position is with our Toolbox@IBM Developer Tooling organization, which provides on-premises instances of GitHub, Travis CI, Jira, and ZenHub, along with the underlying infrastructure supporting them. In each instance, our offering is typically the largest of its kind in the world. Toolbox@IBM Front End Developers participate in the following:
Leading user research & design thinking initiatives to support new and existing product offerings
UI development from wireframe to finished product
Identifying gaps in our offerings, and collaborating with partners inside & outside of Toolbox to fill those gaps
Iteratively prototyping designs using research insights and user feedback
Architecting and developing scalable software solutions
Keeping the portfolio secure

Required Technical and Professional ExpertiseEducation
A combination of education, technical training, and/or work/military experience equivalent to a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, IT, etc.Skills & Experience
Qualified Candidates must have experience with, or the capacity to quickly learn and apply, the following Technical Skills:
Strong software development skills in UI development.
Experience with modern DevOps tools and practices (Git/GitHub, code review, continuous integration / continuous delivery)
Experience with Agile practices (short, time-boxed iterations, regular retrospectives, continuous improvement)
Wicked sense of humor and outside interests, because all work and no play is not sustainable
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
2+ years’ experience in UI Design Methods and Design Thinking
Proficiency with building responsive web pages with HTML5, CSS and related web component libraries
Knowledge and experience with consuming RESTful or GraphQL APIs using JSON data, as well as their implementation
Experience creating personas, journey maps, process flows, and user stories
Ability to perform usability analysis of existing apps, and to provide critical feedback and recommendations
