Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM’s Chief Data Office(CDO) is looking for an experienced Systems Administrator to join the global team. This technical position will be part of the team developing and deploying the Cognitive Enterprise Data Platform (CEDP) for a new CDO group/organization currently being formed.
The CDO mission will be to deliver an enterprise-wide data platform for analytics, data-science and application-development users. The platform will be optimized for data-storage and consumption.
Key users of the CDP platform are data-science users, and application developers creating dashboards and analytics/AI solutions for the business.
Job Duties:
  • Installation, configuration, and operation of middleware, application, and system software.
  • OpenShift / K8S system and CP4D system administration.
  • System security: compliance with security standards and practices.
  • System health: up-time and performance.
  • Troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Helping users and addressing user requirements.
This role is performed by technical professionals responsible for the physical and technical aspects of a database systems. Responsibilities for this job role include, but are not limited to, installation and maintenance of the database system, installation of upgrades and patches, performance and capacity monitoring & management, and security compliance. Potential interaction with clients (internal or external) in order to understand and meet requirements for the delivery of services related to database products.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Systems Administration, including some or all of: Linux, Public Cloud, Kubernetes, OpenShift, CP4D
  • College Degree in relevant IT technology.
  • Familiarity with IT / Software Development / Engineering Projects
  • Experience Troubleshooting Difficult Technical Problems
  • Ability to Learn & Pick up New Skills Quickly
  • Strong Communication Skills, across diverse, world-wide operations organization.
  • Customer Support Skills and Accountability for work

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • IBM Public Cloud experience
  • Red Hat Linux experience
  • Red Hat OpenShift experience
  • CP4D Installation and administration experience
  • Knowledge of DevOps & Agile Application Deployment methodologies
