The Product Owner is a role on the engineering team responsible for managing the product development backlog aligning to the business priorities set by Product Management. Product Owners work alongside Product Management, Design & Architecture to shape the customer’s experience and they team with developers to implement the vision.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Owner of Epic level requirements
  • Create Epics that map to a project initiative and fully describe a deliverable that will fit into a release
  • Prioritize Epics for the release planning process based on high-level priorities
  • Responsible for the workflow of the Epics and ensuring that all release criteria, including the definition of done, is met before showcasing and delivering
  • Work with the team to break down Epics into Stories *Note: PO/Architect/Dev/OM all write stories
  • Owns the “big picture” of the Epic to ensure that all stories are documented
  • Prioritize and refine the Backlog; PO and team review items on the backlog to ensure the backlog contains the appropriate items, that they are prioritized, and that the items at the top of the backlog are ready for delivery.
  • Prioritize defects based on their priority for resolving in the release.
  • Participate in sprint planning; have the backlog up to date and prioritized
  • Work with the release planning team to provide updates on progress and schedule for the release delivery

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • 3+ years as a Product Owner/Product Manager
  • 3+ years in an Agile work environment
  • Collaborate with stakeholders of all levels
  • Strong communication and fluency in English – both verbal and written
  • Must have a fierce customer-first mentality
  • Ability to learn new, complex concepts quickly
  • Infectious curiosity — always looking for opportunities to understand diverse points of view
  • Ability to influence and negotiate

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • SaaS application development experience
  • Design Thinking experience
  • Solid understanding of the Agile development process
