Job Description

We are seeking Entry Level Manufacturing Engineers who will be interfacing with multi-functional teams consisting of Product Engineers, Process Engineers, Quality engineers, fellow manufacturing Engineers with Mechanical, Controls and MES/database experiences as well as Manufacturing Group Leaders, Maintenance Group Leaders, Hourly Production workers, Skilled Trades, and external equipment and tooling suppliers. We need employees that can think on their feet for problems solving and leadership working with skilled trades and production workers and fellow engineers on a day to day basis depending on the issues on the manufacturing floor. Excellent communications skills are invaluable as planners, coordinators for problem-solving leaders. The job also requires the ability to write Statements of work, Specifications, conceptual designs and overseeing tool/equipment shops designs for improved performance of equipment, tools and processes. The employees we seek, will need to have the ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance from supervision as well as to be able to collaborate with team members. Some of the SOW and Specifications will be for large sections of manufacturing equipment and tools or retrofit of existing equipment and tools. The Engineers we seek need to have strong follow-up skills, great attention to detail, communicate clearly, to perform their job effectively.
Responsibilities:
  • Work in a high-volume Production Environment ensuring on-time deliveries are met at the required quality levels and cycle times
  • Manage multiple dead-line dependent projects, including SOW, Specifications, multi-sourced quotes, deliveries installation, qualification and final documentations submissions.
  • Diagnose production equipment/tooling issues and direct maintenance trades in support of resolution for production schedules to be met.
  • Plan and schedule Preventative Maintenance/Improvements to production line with maintenance and Production management.
  • Oversee skilled trades/maintenance crews and production team to implement emergency repairs.
  • Create tooling designs with a combination of field measurements and existing designs to model and procure for production performance improvements.
  • Perform safety review with UAW representatives, G-Comply, MOC on new equipment installations and qualifications.
  • Submit Machine Run-off documentation at tool shops and in-house prior to production release of tooling and equipment.
  • Provide final design documentation for each piece of equipment installed on production floor.
  • Read and understand Tool and Equipment Hydraulic, Pneumatic, and simple ladder logic prints.
  • Design Hydraulic, Mechanical, Pneumatic machine controls for trouble shooting/problem solving.
  • Publish daily activity reports and inform team members of status of equipment worked on.
  • Write training instructions for skilled trades and production workers to make task safe and productive.
  • Understand Process Control Documents and Process flow documents to do problem solving effectively.
  • Identify and procure spare parts and crib stock them for quick equipment/tooling repairs, especially long lead time items.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Able to work 40 hours/week
  • Willing to work in a plant environment
  • Ability to work rotating/multiple shifts
  • Graduated in Spring 2021

  • Prior Internship in a plant environment, technological/automotive/manufacturing
  • Strong Critical Thinking skills, Analytical skills and the ability to comprehend large amounts of data into actionable insights

  • Strong team mentality and ability to learn and share knowledge with co-workers and a fast-paced environment

  • Familiarity with GD & T
  • Proficiency with Solidworks/NX/AutoCad
  • Familiarity with Process documents (PFD, PFMEA, PCP)
  • Familiarity with material usage, fabrication methods and heat treaatments
  • Strong roblem-solving skills
  • Manufacturing Process knowledge of Spin Welding, Vibration Welding and Assembly
  • Familiarity/knowledge of equipment/tooling design
  • SOW & Management/procurement of tooling and equipment
