The opportunity
Flexport helps more than 10,000 clients and suppliers lead all aspects of their supply chain operations. Each of these customers faces significant working capital burdens that hamper their ability to grow their businesses. Over the past two years, Flexport Capital has provided over $200 million in loans to Flexport customers to address these needs. As a start-up within a start-up, we're developing unique fintech products that leverage the resources and data of Flexport's platform for global trade.
We are seeking an entrepreneurial, customer-focused, and process-oriented individual to join our tight-knit team. They will own deal origination and sales process development for Flexport Capital's portfolio of loan products. Due to the early-stage nature of the Flexport Capital business, they will also have a key role leading and executing cross-functional strategic projects related to driving new business.
What you'll do
  • Growth
    • Lead new business initiatives (especially top of the sales funnel) to achieve 2x+ annual growth for Flexport Capital products
    • Build out frameworks and processes (e.g., robust sales tracking, workflow of sales/marketing tools) for existing Flexport Capital go-to-market team
    • Support outbound origination efforts and lead customer engagement in collaboration with internal Flexport teams
    • Develop programmatic sector-based deep dives to uncover financing opportunities and high-growth market segments for Flexport Capital
  • Strategy & Analytics
    • Implement monitoring systems to improve Flexport Capital's risk-adjusted portfolio returns; analytics to include risk/return metrics, shipment data, invoicing activity, and customer financials
What you'll need
  • 1-2 years experience in investment banking or management consulting OR 2+ years work experience in a sales role at a financial technology or logistics/supply chain company
  • Demonstrated passion for financial technology and the future of embedded financial services
  • Competitive and creative drive to win over customers and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate across business lines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience presenting to C-level executives
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • BA/BS required; undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or Finance strongly preferred
  • Strong technical skills – Excel and SQL are a plus
