Facebook is seeking a highly motivated team player to join our Data Center Engineering and Construction (DEC) team as a Planning Manager on the Program Development team. This position will collaborate with a diverse range of both internal and external partners to achieve the mission of planning and delivering the safest and most highly reliable data centers in the industry that are engineered, designed, constructed, commissioned, and operated with a long-term view. The primary responsibility of this role will be managing our capacity workstreams and ‘big bet’ integration into our program. This role will be responsible to promote alignment and optimization across the program and ensure best in class practices and initiatives across our global builds are being implemented. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to work closely and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external cross-functional stakeholders to achieve the desired outcomes. They will also work to define first of kind processes within the Preconstruction, Contracts and Project Controls spaces, and broader DEC space to drive consistency and efficiency across the organization. In addition, this role will support the business capacity requests for data center development as a technical expert in preconstruction, logistics and construction planning.This position is full-time. Managing stakeholders located across all regions and time zones is a significant challenge and is key to the success of our projects.   • Managing our capacity workstreams and ‘big bet’ integration into our program.
  • Support the business capacity requests for data center development as a technical expert in preconstruction, logistics and construction planning.
  • Strategic planning including detailed build requirements, project coordination and scheduling, supply chain allocation and procurement.
  • Managing ambiguous requests, changing limitations, and able to think outside the box.
  • Support roll out of program approved changes by generating playbooks and training modules and being subject matter expert to set site teams up for success.
  • Support preconstruction team in reviewing new regions/projects for constructability, site constraints, logistics, labor availability schedule and cost advice.
  • Management of the program schedule and development of milestones and detailed schedules as required to maintain awareness of critical program dates, decision making point and deliverables.
  • Interface and work closely with Pre-Construction Managers, Construction Leadership, Strategic Managers, Site Selection Managers, and external teams to produce project requirements.
  • Develop internal processes to support operationalizing of initiatives within the Program Development team.
  • Collaboration with domain leads to modify and document changes to process and workflows and create new process and workflows as required.
  • Develop schedules and cost estimates with high level resource planning and stakeholder coordination. Work in conjunction with the Innovator team to understand the cost, quality and schedule impacts of new designs, materials, and construction methods.
  • Lead regular status updates meetings to share status with others: keep management well informed of changes to the program.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent technical degree.
  • 10+ years direct professional experience in project planning and construction management.
  • Knowledge to understand the design and deployment of technical electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience in commercial construction management (pre-construction, contracting, scheduling, estimating, cost management).
  • Knowledge of how to build, update, and apply the information found in project schedules including identification of the critical path.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and understanding of standard practices in the design and construction industry, including knowledge of fast-track design-build process and associated documents and contracts.
  • Coordination skills to lead a team of diverse backgrounds and experience towards a single project outcome.
  • Communication and reporting skills.
  • Knowledgeable in Primavera P6, MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
