This Facebook Reality Labs Trade Specialist is part of Facebook’s Global Trade Operations team, which is part of Facebook’s Compliance organization. As Trade Operations, we partner closely with all internal business partners engaged in cross-border trade to enable them to move fast compliantly and efficiently. This includes Infrastructure, Facilities, Engineering, R&D teams, Consumer products, IT Logistics. In partnership with Trade Legal, Tax and Finance we educate, enable and empower the organization by building sustainable trade compliance practices that align to the needs of the business while also being scalable for a rapidly growing global footprint. The Trade Operations team is invested in aligning and operationalizing trade practices through a combination of training, responsive partnership, deep subject matter expertise, and excellent customer service.   • Lead all trade compliance related matter throughout EMEA for FRL specific commodities.
  • Assist with a number of international trade compliance programs and initiatives including supporting new product introduction efforts, country expansion strategies and development of cross-functional relationships.
  • Maintain required import and export documentation in accordance with relevant laws and corporate policy.
  • Support reporting budgeting and trade spend associated with FRL’s business. Monitor and interpret regulatory changes that affect FRL trade operations and communicate changes to affected parties.
  • Monitor trade compliance inquiries by governmental enforcement agencies for resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Ensure FRL products are classified in accordance with the General Rules of Interpretation and Harmonized Tariff Schedules and assist with maintaining classification databases.
  • Audit current Harmonized Tariff Schedules and Export Control Classification Numbers for accuracy.
  • Knowledgeable about Export Control Classification Numbers and applicable license determination for all FRL products.
  • Operational day to day processing of FRL’s import/export transactions, manage compliance and assess best practices for reporting, documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Qualify items for various Free Trade Agreements and maintain certificates of origin. Oversee processes concerning Foreign-Trade Zone(s), USMCC, bonded warehouse and other related programs.
  • Research and monitor local laws, regulations, procedures and applicable benefits related to import transactions, prepare summaries of new regulations for review by team members, distribute updates and summaries to appropriate supply chain and business unit contacts.
  • Communicate with brokers, forwarders, external vendors and customers to ensure consistency with compliance and regulations.
  • Analyze import and export activities to ensure the company does not violate any restrictions on trade compliance activities.
  • Organize and document business processes, performance measurements and quality enhancements.
  • Review and audit products and documents for Anti-dumping/Countervailing and other Non-Tariff duty applicability.
  • Support cross functional FRL business units in the preparation of complete and compliant international shipping documents, including commercial invoices, certificates of origin, and other related trade documents
  • Develop and support processes for compliance programs and initiatives, reviews existing processes for efficiency and support the implementation of systems automation.
  • 8 plus years trade compliance experience preferably in the high-tech sector
  • Proven project management, self-motivation, and creative problem solving capabilities
  • Strong desire to learn, develop, and grow professionally
  • 4-year university degree in business, economics, finance or related discipline
  • Flexible, responsive and confident in a fast paced global environment
  • Able to manage a varying workload which may include changes in priorities and responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills (verbal & written), with the ability to solve complex challenges.
  • Excellent organizational skills, accountable and takes ownership with the ability to perform with little or no guidance.
  • Able to work with multiple time zones

  • Post-graduate degree in business, law, economics, finance or related discipline
  • Experience at an international trade regulatory authority
  • Deep operational support of a trade program in the high-tech industry
  • Customs broker license
  • Trade management systems use or implementation (e.g. Oracle GTM, SAP GTS, Amber Road, Agile
  • Analytics and reporting skills
