Enterprise Engineering Manager - Compute, Storage and Tooling

We are looking for a talented, motivated leader for Facebook’s Enterprise Infrastructure and Security’s Platforms team. The team is responsible for building integrated, scalable, secure and robust compute and storage infrastructure supporting a diverse customer base from AR/VR research to hardware design to an array of core business functions. We are currently looking for an experienced, insightful, forward-thinking manager with a strong ability to design and execute products that power the business.
  • Lead teams responsible for infrastructure services including compute, storage, provisioning, configuration management, automation, observability, cluster scheduling, OS management, security, data privacy.
  • Understand technical architectures, capacity management, tooling needs, automation plans, product launch plans, and other issues and create comprehensive plans for prioritizing technical and resourcing challenges.
  • Partner with network engineering, capacity, security and product teams to plan and execute against a broad array of business and product needs.
  • Help engineers develop their careers, assigning them to projects tailored to their current skill levels as well as their long-term development, taking into account evolving strengths and capabilities.
  • Work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing and interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and onboarding new employees.
  • Balance the need to “keep things running” with allocating time to long-term, high-impact strategic projects.
  • Assess employee performance frequently, addressing under-performance, and recognizing, and promoting excellent performance.
  • 8+ years of work experience in the field of Information Technology.
  • 4+ years of people management experience in a technology company.
  • Experience managing through managers.
  • Experience with hiring and managing performance.
  • Knowledge of Windows and/or UNIX and TCP/IP network fundamentals.
  • Experience with coding in at least one language (even if it is not one that Facebook uses).
  • Experience in learning new software languages, frameworks, and API’s.
  • Experience performing “guerrilla capacity planning” for Internet service architectures.
  • Experience in designing and supporting infrastructure that supports complex, distributed architectures.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or technical field.
