Data Scientist, Ads Targeting, Signal Loss/RPA

We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist with strong product and technical skills to join the team. As an experienced DS on the team, you would also help mentor and technically guide other team members. The role covers the following product areas:Signal Loss (SL) - Mitigating the loss of value from Ads due loss of offsite (outside FB domain) signalsRe-define Personalised Ads (RPA) - Ensuring the value of Facebook Ads to users and advertisers in the face of regulatory and technological changesTargeting's mission is to "drive valuable outcomes for advertisers by leveraging their customer knowledge safely". We build the products that allow advertisers to connect the right message with the right people.Advertisers pass us knowledge of their target audience, which we use to maximise delivery outcomes accordingly. Targeting also plays a unique role amongst Ads Product teams - that of keeping consumers safe and managing risk.Targeting is used widely across all ads with ~75% of our revenue flowing through at least one of these products -Detailed Targeting: Targeting of users based on their interestsLook-A-Like: Allows advertisers to reach users who are similar to their current customers Custom Audience: Advertisers can either include or exclude users based on previous interactions with their business You will collaborate closely with ML Engg., Product Engg., PM and PMM on the team.
  • Top priority for the Targeting team to ensure continued value from our products. Experiment, Simulate, Measure & Mitigate the impact of SL on key targeting products and help drive improvements in our ML models and product proposition to recover value loss
  • The Ad tech industry is shifting towards a greater privacy focus, putting much of our business at risk due to losing user-based signals from websites and apps. Help us define the future of personalised ads collaborating on Privacy Preserving ML (PPML), Privacy Enhancing Technology (PET) and signal recovery mechanisms
  • Technical Leadership:
    • Hands-on work on some of the most complex problems in the area
    • Develop deep understanding of the product domain and act as SME
    • Brainstorm with team members and improve team's analytical rigour
    • Communicate technically complex analysis to a various stakeholders to get buy-in for decision-making
  • Product Leadership:
    • Develop deep understanding of our products and needs of various stakeholders
    • Help define roadmap and goals for the product pillar
    • Participate in regular product reviews in measuring progress towards goals
    • Discover and articulate new product opportunities helping shape the team's direction
    • Support product experiments, launches, growth through data-driven decision making while keeping the team accountable and impactful
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Partner with Product, Engineering and other cross-functional teams to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities
    • Inform, influence, support, and execute our product decisions
  • Bachelors/Masters Degree with 6+ years (or PhD with 4+ years) of experience working within an analytical role
  • Strategic thinking and experience driving the direction of the team
  • Experience with ML and statistical knowledge
  • Experience demonstrating product leadership in the working environment
  • Experience working independently and as a member of a cross-functional team
  • Experience in querying and manipulating large datasets for analysis
  • Python and SQL experience
  • 7+ years of experience working in an analytics organization
  • Ads or Advertiser experience
  • Experience in Tech industry leading large projects
  • Genuine interest in going deep in the data and build theory and tell story from it
