Job Description
Etsy Security seeks a senior engineer to join the Security Engineering team. This team is responsible for both corporate and infrastructure security, which includes developing tools to detect malicious behavior, creating company-wide policies that improve our security posture, and expanding our endpoint telemetry, all with a focus on automation and making our systems as clever as possible. We regularly use machine learning and other industry-leading techniques to advance this goal. You’ll work with your peers to expand the breadth of what our alerts watch for, based on the results of red team and threat model exercises.

This is a full-time role located in Brooklyn, NY, and open to remote candidates.
About the Role
  • Contribute to the development of our in-house events processing system
  • Write automation to detect suspicious behavior and/or insecure changes to cloud configurations
  • Research and introduce security best practices and new technologies from the industry
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across Etsy to evaluate the security of current and planned infrastructure
  • Respond to security incidents

About You

  • You’ve been writing code professionally for 5+ years
  • Comfort with java and/or Apache Beam is a huge plus!
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in infrastructure security
  • You are familiar with cloud computing environments (GCP or AWS)
  • You have some knowledge of endpoint security (securing macOS, Linux, & Windows hardware)
  • You have a basic understanding of Network Security and relevant tools
  • You have excellent written & verbal communication skills
