Software Engineer 2 – Java/JVM Development

Our IT Software Engineer team turns business requirements into technology solutions by designing, coding and testing/debugging applications, as well as documenting procedures for use and constantly seeking quality improvements.

What you’ll achieve
As a Software Engineer 2, you will work with a development team that is results oriented, fast, and flexible – we fit well with people who want to make a big contribution to product development and have the desire to learn and excel. You will:
  • Work with a global engineering team to build and support the core infrastructure used to develop the management backend and APIs for a next-generation midrange storage product
  • Gain hands-on experience applying core Java fundamentals to complex systems in order to improve the performance of all aspects of management software
  • Contribute to the design and architecture of new, or re-engineered, software/storage environments
  • Develop and review design, functional, technical and/or user documentation, as needed
  • Develop, review, and implement test strategies for software products and systems

Essential Requirements
  • Ability to participate and add value in all phases of software development: feasibility, design, implementation, integration, test, and delivery.
  • Ability to achieve proficiency of new tools, languages, and operating systems with training and on-the-job experience
  • Experience with debugging, triaging and resolving technical issues
  • Ability to demonstrate strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation skills

Desirable Requirements
Not all of the skills below are required; however, familiarity or strength in some of these areas is a plus.
  • Experience with Java 8+ and functional reactive programming (FRP)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
