Bumble is looking for a highly commercial, growth-oriented Assistant Controller to oversee financial reporting across the organization for a six month contract. As an ideal candidate, you will have the business maturity to support a wide range of analysis across monthly reporting, tax/compliance and audit in a fast-paced environment, balancing fine operational details with big-picture insights to help Bumble achieve our ambitious goals. The Assistant Controller will assist in providing financial leadership and expert advice on a wide range of fiscal matters, and advocates financial integrity and accountability in all Bumble’s business practices.
The role will report into the Group Financial Controller and be located in our office in Austin, TX.
Key Accountabilities:
    • Establish, monitor, and oversee enforcement of accounting policies and procedures to guide financial decisions for the global business. Adhere to corporate accounting policies for financial accounting and reporting requirements in relation to IFRS
    • Manage and review the timely and accurate completion of month end close activities and financial reporting for 5 Bumble entities, ensuring adequate internal control policies and procedures are in place and operational
    • Review consolidated financial statements and monthly budget vs. actual analysis for Bumble entities across 5 different jurisdictions to provide C-Level staff information needed to guide business decisions
    • Work with external auditors and ensure critical information is received timely for the annual and quarterly audits
    • Comply with international, federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed tax requirement actions
    • Lead and manage a team by coaching and counseling employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
    • Manage relationships with outsourced service providers globally, including oversight of local accounting teams working with outsourced providers
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships across departments (tax, HR, treasury, bizops, legal, and commercial teams) to ensure operational and financial plans are created and implemented to achieve Bumble’s goals
    • Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls over accounts payable, fixed assets, and accounts receivable processes
    • Identify and execute improvements in order to better support business operations for Bumble
    • Improve efficiency and effectiveness for financial processes by providing training and education to employees outside of the accounting/ finance department
    • Leadership or involvement in ad-hoc requests for both financial data and analysis, as well as both leading and participating in departmental groups to drive financial and operational improvement
Experience We Are Looking For:
    • Significant, provable experience of progressive accounting experience including operational accounting experience at a fast-growing digital company
    • Ability to practice standards and methods relating to financial, compliance, and performance audits.
    • Ability to understand computerized data and processing as it relates to auditing, accounting, and fiscal operations and management information systems
    • Experience with principles and methods of public finance administration.
    • Experience with complex corporate structures; background working in public companies preferred
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to create or improve complex financial and forecasting models
    • Process-oriented with a strong sense of affinity with the rapid pace of a growing and dynamic environment
    • Great working knowledge of accounting, auditing principles,practices, procedures, controlling and finance operations
    • Prior people management experience with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members
    • Ability to build trust at senior level and to act as a change agent across teams
